Oasis (1955 Film)
''Oasis'' (German: ''Oase'') is a 1955 French-West German adventure film directed by Yves Allégret and starring Michèle Morgan, Cornell Borchers, Carl Raddatz and Pierre Brasseur. It was based on the 1933 novel ''The Commander'' by John Knittel. The screenplay was written by Joseph Kessel, Ben Barzman, and Georges Kessel. It was shot at the Bavaria Studios in Munich and on location in Marseille as well as in Marrakesh, Casablanca, Agadir and Guelmim in French Morocco. Synopsis It tells the story of two female smugglers and an inexperienced gold smuggler. Yves Allégret (13 October 1905 – 31 January 1987) was a French film director, often working in the film noir genre. He was born in Asnières-sur-Seine, Hauts-de-Seine and died in Paris. He was an assistant to film directors such as his brother Marc Allégret, Augusto Genina, and Jean Renoir. Grégoire Aslan (born Krikor Kaloust Aslanian; 28 March 1908 – 8 January 1982) was a Swiss-Armenian actor and musician. Early life Krikor Kaloust Aslanian ( hy, Գրիգոր Գալուստի Ասլանյան) was born in Switzerland or in Constantinople, according to different sources. He made his professional début at 18 as a vocalist, trumpeter and drummer with the Paris dance band of Ray Ventura et ses Collegiens, then launched an acting career under the name of Coco Aslan. He also performed with guitarist Django Reinhardt. Career Aslan's first film appearance was uncredited in Marc Didier's 1935 ''Le Bille de mille''. French Morocco
The French protectorate in Morocco (french: Protectorat français au Maroc; ar, الحماية الفرنسية في المغرب), also known as French Morocco, was the period of French colonial rule in Morocco between 1912 to 1956. Guelmim
Guelmim (in ber, Agʷelmim, ⴰⴳⵯⵍⵎⵉⵎ, in ar, ڭلميم, also spelled in European sources: Glaimim, Goulimine or Guelmin), is a city in southern Morocco, often called ''Gateway to the Desert''. It is the capital of the Guelmim-Oued Noun region which includes southern Morocco (south of the Souss-Massa region) and the northeastern corner of Western Sahara. The population of the city was 187,808 as of the 2014 Moroccan census, making it the largest city in the region. The N1 and N12 highways cross at Guelmim and link it to the nearby region of Souss-Massa.
