Oakland Coffee Works
Oakland Coffee Works is a coffee company founded in 2015 by Billie Joe Armstrong, Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt of the rock band Green Day. The company aims to set a standard for compostability in coffee packaging. It is based in Oakland, California, United States. In December 2015, the Financial Times named Oakland Coffee as the world's first US-based coffee company to exclusively sell fully compostable 12 oz. coffee bags and single-serve coffee cups. All of Oakland Coffee's bags, single-serve cups, and mother bags are Certified Compostable for municipal composting facilities by the Biodegradable Products Institute. Oakland Coffee only sells coffees that are organically grown, handpicked, and fairly traded. The beans are from small organic farms primarily in high altitude regions of Central and South America. Billie Joe Armstrong
Billie Joe Armstrong (born February 17, 1972) is an American musician who is the lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter of the rock band Green Day, which he co-founded with Mike Dirnt in 1987. He is also a guitarist and vocalist for the punk rock band Pinhead Gunpowder, and provides lead vocals for Green Day's side projects Foxboro Hot Tubs, The Network, The Longshot and The Coverups. Armstrong has been considered by critics as one of the greatest punk rock guitarists of all time. Michael Ryan Pritchard (born May 4, 1972), better known by his stage name Mike Dirnt, is an American rock musician who is the co-founder, bassist, backing and occasional lead vocalist, and former guitarist of Green Day. He has also played in several other bands, including the Frustrators. World Central Kitchen (WCK) is a not-for-profit non-governmental organization devoted to providing meals in the wake of natural disasters.
