OR 350
Oregon Route 350 is an Oregon state highway running from Joseph to Imnaha. OR 350 is known as the Little Sheep Creek Highway No. 350 (see Oregon highways and routes). It is long and runs east–west, entirely within Wallowa County. OR 350 was established in 2003 as part of Oregon's project to assign route numbers to highways that previously were not assigned, and, as of July 2022, ODOT is posting route shields. Route description OR 350 begins at an intersection with OR 82 and OR 351 in Joseph and heads east and northeast to Imnaha, where it ends at the intersection of Upper Imnaha Road and Grizzly Ridge Road. It is part of Hells Canyon Scenic Byway. History OR 350 was assigned to the Little Sheep Creek Highway in 2003. Oregon Route 82 (OR 82) is a State highway (US), state highway in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Oregon. Joseph, Oregon
Joseph is a city in Wallowa County, Oregon, United States. Originally named Silver Lake and Lake City, the city formally named itself in 1880 for Chief Joseph (1840–1904) of the Nez Perce people. The population was 1,081 at the 2010 census. History Joseph was platted in 1883, and the economy was originally based around agriculture, especially grain and stock. In 1896 the First Bank of Joseph was robbed, one robber was shot and killed, another shot and captured, and a third escaped with the money. On occasion there have been reenactments of the robbery. After a railroad line was completed to Joseph in 1908, a lumber mill opened, bolstering the economy. When the timber industry collapsed in the 1980s, local unemployment rate approached 17%. However, in 1982 a new industry was born as three bronze foundries opened in the local area. Imnaha, Oregon
Imnaha is an unincorporated community at the confluence of Big Sheep Creek and the Imnaha River in Wallowa County, Oregon, United States. Its elevation is . Oregon Route 350 connects Imnaha to the nearest incorporated city, Joseph, to the west. Imnaha is best known as the gateway to the Hat Point scenic lookout on Hells Canyon at the Snake River. The name ''Imnaha'' means "land ruled over by Imna"; Imna was a local Native American subchief. The post office in Imnaha opened January 4, 1885, but the townsite was not established until 1901; it was platted in 1902. Imnaha is the easternmost settlement in the state of Oregon. Wallowa County () is the northeastern most county in the U.S. state of Oregon. As of the 2020 census, the population was 7,391, making it Oregon's fifth-least populous county. Its county seat is Enterprise. According to '' Oregon Geographic Names'', the origins of the county's name are uncertain, with the most likely explanation being it is derived from the Nez Perce term for a structure of stakes (a weir) used in fishing. Hells Canyon Scenic Byway
Hells Canyon Scenic Byway is a designated All-American Road in the U.S. state of Oregon. It is located at the northeast corner of Oregon and comprises Oregon Route 82, Oregon Route 350, Forest Roads 39 and 3365, and most of Oregon Route 86. From the west, the byway begins at the intersection of Oregon Route 82 and Interstate 84 near La Grande and ends near Baker City, at the junction of Interstate 84 and Oregon Route 86.
