OMACs
The OMACs (; Omni Mind And Community, originally Observational Metahuman Activity Construct and alternatively One Man Army Corps.) are a fictional type of cyborg appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. They are based on the Jack Kirby character of the same name. Publication history The OMACs first appeared in ''The OMAC Project'' #1 (June 2005), and were created by Greg Rucka. Fictional team biography The OMAC Project The OMACs are cyborgs, human bodies transformed by a virus into living machines to assassinate any and all beings with superpowers. The virus was created from Brainiac-13's nanotechnology, which had been acquired by the U.S. Department of Defense and Lexcorp, and was then secretly introduced into general vaccine supplies. The OMAC Project
''The OMAC Project'' is a six-issue American comic book limited series written by Greg Rucka with art by Jesus Saiz and published by DC Comics in 2005. Overview The book is one of four miniseries leading up to DC Comics' ''Infinite Crisis'' event. The series directly follows the ''Countdown to Infinite Crisis'' special, picking up the story where the special left off. The OMACs mentioned in the title borrow their name and general appearance from the 1974 Jack Kirby creation OMAC. However, the OMACs in this 2005 miniseries differ from the original in other ways, including the term underlying the acronym that forms their name: in Kirby's stories, "OMAC" stands for "One-Man Army Corps", while in this miniseries, "OMAC" stands for "Observational Metahuman Activity Construct" (constructed backwards from the Kirby acronym as a form of backronym). OMAC (Buddy Blank)
OMAC (Buddy Blank) is a superhero appearing in media published by DC Comics. He was created by Jack Kirby towards the end of his contract with the publisher following the cancellation of his ''New Gods'' series; it was reportedly developed strictly due to Kirby needing to fill his contractual quota of 15 pages a week. As envisioned by Kirby, OMAC is essentially Captain America set in the future, an idea he had toyed with some years earlier while at Marvel Comics but had never realized. Countdown To Infinite Crisis
''DC Countdown'', commonly referred to as ''Countdown to Infinite Crisis'', is a one-shot publication and the official start of the "Infinite Crisis" storyline. It was released 30 March 2005, sold out, and quickly went to a second printing. When this comic was first published, the cover showed Batman holding a shadowed corpse, so as not to ruin the surprise of who dies. For the second printing, the shadows were removed to reveal the identity of the corpse. During initial solicitations the comic was entitled ''DC Countdown'' to postpone revelation of an upcoming crisis. ''Countdown'' was a special 80 page comic originally priced at $1, much lower than would normally be the case for an 80-page comic, although the second printing was priced at $2. Metahuman
In DC Comics' DC Universe, a metahuman is a human with superpowers. The term is roughly synonymous with both ''mutant'' and ''mutate'' in the Marvel Universe and '' posthuman'' in the Wildstorm and Ultimate Marvel Universes. In DC Comics, the term is used loosely in most instances to refer to any human-like being with extranormal powers and abilities, either cosmic, mutant, science, mystic, skill or tech in nature. A significant portion of these are normal human beings born with a genetic variant called the "metagene", which causes them to gain powers and abilities during freak accidents or times of intense psychological distress. "For Tomorrow" is a song by English alternative rock band Blur. It is the lead track to their second album, '' Modern Life Is Rubbish'' (the title appears in the lyric). Released 19 April 1993 as the first single from the album, "For Tomorrow" charted at number 28 in the UK Singles Chart. The Visit to Primrose Hill Extended version of "For Tomorrow" was included in the band's compilation albums, '' Blur: The Best of'', (being the only song from ''Modern Life Is Rubbish'' to be featured) and '' Midlife: A Beginner's Guide to Blur''. Equus is a fictional comic book supervillain, a cyborg mercenary in the DC Comics universe who serves as an opponent of Superman.
