O'Loughlin Gaels
O'Loughlin Gaels is a Gaelic Athletic Association club situated in the St. John’s parish of Kilkenny city, County Kilkenny, Ireland. History The club was founded in 1969, replacing the St. John’s Hurling Club that started back in 1887. O'Loughlin Gaels are one of the most successful Kilkenny clubs of the new millennium, winning county titles in 2001 and 2003. In 2003, they went on to claim their first Leinster senior title. In January 2011, they claimed their second Leinster title after a 0-14 to 1-8 win against Oulart-the-Ballagh in the final. The club was named AIB Club of the Year in 1983. Paddy Deegan
Patrick Deegan (born 23 September 1995) is an Irish hurler who plays for Kilkenny Senior Championship club O'Loughlin Gaels and at inter-county level with the Kilkenny senior hurling team. Playing career Kilkenny CBS Deegan first came to prominence as a hurler with Kilkenny CBS and played in every grade of hurling before eventually joining the college's senior hurling team. On 3 March 2012, he was an unused substitute when Kilkenny CBS suffered a 2-09 to 1-10 defeat by local rivals St. Kieran's College in the Leinster final. Deegan was again on the substitutes' bench when Kilkenny CBS were beaten by Nenagh CBS by 3-10 to 2-11 in the All-Ireland final. Michael Butler (born 4 February 2000) is an Irish hurler who plays for Kilkenny Senior Championship club O'Loughlin Gaels and at inter-county level with the Kilkenny senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a right corner-back. Huw Lawlor (born 1 May 1996) is an Irish hurler who plays for Kilkenny Senior Championship club O'Loughlin Gaels and at inter-county level with the Kilkenny senior hurling team. Brian Dowling (hurler)
Brian Martin Dowling (born 7 March 1983) is an Irish hurler who played as a right corner-forward for the Kilkenny senior team. He is now the manager of the Kilkenny senior camogie team. Brother of former Kilkenny hurler Seán, Dowling joined the hurling team during the 2002 National League and was a regular member of the team for just two seasons. Paul Kelly (born 14 December 1979) is an Irish hurler who plays for his local club Mullinahone and at senior level for the Tipperary county team. Recently he has transferred clubs to O'Loughlin Gaels club in Kilkenny but since 2010 he has returned to play for Mullinahone. Seán Anthony Dowling (born 10 June 1978) is an Irish retired hurler who played for Kilkenny Championship club O'Loughlin Gaels. He played for the Kilkenny senior hurling team for five seasons, during which time he usually lined out as a right wing-back or at midfield. Career Dowling began his hurling career at club level with O'Loughlin Gaels. He broke onto the club's top adult team as a 16-year-old in 1994 and enjoyed his first success the following year when the club won the 1995 Kilkenny Junior Championship. Mark Kelly (born 2 September 1988) is an Irish hurler/Athlete who played as a forward for the Kilkenny senior team 2012–16. Born in Kilkenny, Kelly first played competitive hurling with his club O'Loughlin Gaels and holds Roinn A championship medals at u14, u16, minor and senior in recent years. During his schooling at Kilkenny CBS, Kelly won Leinster championship medals and starred in his school's run to the All-Ireland Colleges final in 2007 narrowly losing to Waterford's De La Salle.
