A fortification is a military construction or building designed for the defense of territories in warfare, and is also used to establish rule in a region during peacetime. Emil Aarestrup
Carl Ludvig Emil Aarestrup (4 December 1800 in Copenhagen – 21 July 1856 in Odense) was a Danish physician and poet, who had just one single volume of poetry published throughout his lifetime, yet this gave him a lasting place in Danish literature, due to the originality of the poems, as well as their persistent exploration of erotic themes, somewhat uncommon to the day. Life and career Aarestrup was born in Store Kongensgade in Copenhagen, in a period designated by the Napoleonic wars, which Denmark had been dragged into, and which left the country officially bankrupt. Guldborgsund is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Region Sjælland in Denmark, created on 1 January 2007 from six (6) former municipalities on the two islands Lolland in the west and Falster in the east bordering the Guldborgsund strait. It covers an area of 903.15 km² (2013) and has a total population of 61,219 (1 January 2018). Its neighboring municipalities are Lolland to the west and Vordingborg to the north. Sydfalster
Until 1 January 2007 Sydfalster was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in the former Storstrøm County on the southern end of the island of Falster in south Denmark. Overview The municipality covered an area of 113 km², and had a total population of 6,953 (2005), which was approx. quadrupled in the summer months, when tourists come to the beaches and resorts of the east coast of the island. Its last mayor was Hans Aage Petersen, a member of the Conservative People's Party (''Det Konservative Folkeparti'') political party. The site of its municipal council was the town of Væggerløse.
