Nrupatunga Award
The Nrupatunga Award is an award for excellence in Kannada literature in the Indian state of Karnataka. The award was instituted by the Kannada Sahitya Parishat and is sponsored by the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC). Instituted in honor of the Rashtrakuta King Nrupatunga Amoghavarsha I (ruled c. 814–878), the award carries a purse of ₹700,001. Sara Aboobacker
Sara Aboobacker ( kn, ಸಾರಾ ಅಬೂಬಕ್ಕರ್; 30 June 1936 – 10 January 2023) was an Indian Kannada writer of novels and short stories, and a translator. Early life and education Sara was born in Kasaragod, Kerala on 30 June 1936, to Pudiyapuri Ahmad and Zainabi Ahmad. She had four brothers. She was one of the first girls in her community of Muslim families in Kasaragod to be educated, graduating from a local Kannada school. She was married after school, and went on to have four sons. Aboobacker once stated that her desire to further her education was constrained by community norms that restricted female access to higher education, and that she was only able to obtain a library membership in 1963. Kannada literature is the Text corpus, corpus of written forms of the Kannada language, a member of the Dravidian language, Dravidian Language family, family spoken mainly in the Indian state of Karnataka and written in the Kannada script. Attestations in literature span one and a half millennia, R.S. Karnataka Sahitya Academy
Karnataka Sahitya Academy is an autonomous organization set up by the government of Karnataka to promote Kannada literature and recognize literary merit by giving awards. It is fully funded by the Directorate of Kannada and Culture, Government of Karnataka. Set up in 1961 as "Mysore State Sahitya Academy" it was renamed as Karnataka Sahitya Academy when the name of the Mysore State was changed to Karnataka in 1973. In 1977 the Government of Karnataka made amendments to its constitution and printed a Charter of the Academies. According to this Charter: (a) the President and Members of Sahitya Academy are nominated by the government (b) the Academy can form an executive committee to take care of its day-to-day affairs (c) it also has the authority to form sub-committees as and when required, and (d) the president, the registrar and the finance board members are the officials of the Academy, with the registrar functioning as its chief executive. Chennaveera Kanavi
Chennaveera Kanavi (28 June 1928 – 16 February 2022) was an Indian Kannada language poet and author. In a career spanning over seven decades he wrote over 25 anthologies and over 28 books across genres. He was considered one of the major poets and writers in the Kannada language and received the Sahitya Akademi Award for his poem "Jeeva Dhwani" () in 1981. He was popularly known as "''Samanvayada Kavi'' ("the poet of reconciliation"), "''Chembelakina Kavi'' ("the poet of beautiful light"), and "''Soujanyada Kavi'' ("the poet of courtesy"). Baraguru Ramachandrappa (born 18 October 1947) is an Indian essayist, lyricist, screenwriter, film director, socialist, writer, novelist, predominantly works in Kannada language and President of the Textbook Revision Committee, in Karnataka Text Books Society (''KTBS'') from May 2015. In 2008, he was given an honorary doctorate by the Kuvempu University and Rani Channamma University, Belagavi, Karnataka.
