Noxa (band)
Noxa is an Indonesian grindcore band formed in Jakarta in 2002 by drummer Robin Hutagaol and guitarist Ade Himernio Adnis. The band are known for playing grindcore accompanied by political and humanistic lyrics. History Formation The band was formed by Ade Himernio Adnis and Robin Hutagaol. They soon picked up vocalist Tonny Christian Pangemanan and bassist Dipa Biomantara. The four member of the band shared the same university as students and have known each other for years, occasionally doing some local gigs together. At first they played cover songs from grindcore bands like Nasum and Napalm Death. The name Noxa was chosen because the members of the band were interested in its meaning. Rotten Sound is a Finnish grindcore band from Vaasa, formed in 1993. The band comprises vocalist Keijo Niinimaa, guitarist Mika Aalto, bassist Kristian Toivainen, and drummer Sami Latva. Misery Index is an American death metal band formed in 2001 in Baltimore, Maryland, United States, by Jason Netherton (bass, vocals), Mike Harrison (guitar, vocals), and Kevin Talley (drums). In 2003, the band opened for Dying Fetus and Skinless on their North American tour. Tuska Open Air Metal Festival, commonly shortened to Tuska ( fi, pain, agony), is a Finnish heavy metal festival taking place annually in Helsinki. The first Tuska took place in 1998 and the festival has since grown larger every year. The location of the festival has been in Kaisaniemi park in the middle of the city from 2001. However, since 2011, Tuska has taken place at the Suvilahti event field in the Kalasatama neighbourhood of the Sörnäinen district. The festival dates have always been in either June or July. In recent years the attendance has grown and the festival has drawn up to 43,000 people in 2019. In 2006, the festival was almost sold out and over a combined three-day total of 33,000 attendees arrived to watch 32 artists, including for example Anathema, Celtic Frost, Opeth, Sodom, Venom, and Finland's own Amorphis and Sonata Arctica. Grindcore
Grindcore is an extreme fusion genre of heavy metal and hardcore punk that originated in the mid-1980s, drawing inspiration from abrasive-sounding musical styles, such as thrashcore, crust punk, hardcore punk, extreme metal, and industrial. Grindcore is considered a more noise-filled style of hardcore punk while using hardcore's trademark characteristics such as heavily distorted, down-tuned guitars, grinding overdriven bass, high-speed tempo, blast beats, and vocals which consist of growls, shouts and high-pitched shrieks.
