The Nottingham Wildcats are an English basketball club based in Nottingham, England. The Wildcats' senior women's team compete in the Women's British Basketball League (WBBL). History The Wildcats were established in 1976 and are the biggest women's basketball club in Nottingham. The team is run by the Nottingham Wildcats Community Basketball and Sports Trust. The Wildcats are one of only a handful of British basketball clubs to administer and run their own facility, the Nottingham Wildcats Arena, which opened in 2001. The Women's British Basketball League (WBBL) is the top-level women's basketball league in Great Britain, founded on 5 June 2014 as the women's counterpart to the British Basketball League (BBL). The league's headquarters are in Leicester alongside the offices of the men's BBL. The Nottingham Hoods are a semi-professional basketball club from the city of Nottingham, England. The Hoods, formed in 2009, compete in NBL Division 1, the second tier of the British basketball system, and play their home games at the Nottingham Wildcats Arena.
