Norman Fender
Norman Henry Fender (2 September 1910 – 24 October 1983) was a Welsh dual-code international rugby footballer who played rugby union for Cardiff as a flanker and rugby league with York. He won six caps for Wales at rugby union, and also represented Wales at rugby league. In 1932/33 he toured Australasia with Great Britain. Cardiff (; cy, Caerdydd ) is the capital and largest city of Wales. In sport, a goal may refer to either an instance of scoring, or to the physical structure or area where an attacking team must send the ball or puck in order to score points. The structure of a goal varies from sport to sport, and one is placed at or near each end of the playing field for each team to defend. For many sports, each goal structure usually consists of two vertical posts, called ''goal posts'', supporting a horizontal ''crossbar''. A ''goal line'' marked on the playing surface between the goal posts demarcates the goal area. Thus, the objective is to send the ball or puck between the goal posts, under or over the crossbar (depending on the sport), and across the goal line. Willie Hargreaves (birth registered second ¼ 1931 – 4 July 2013), also known by the nickname of "Little Rock", was an English professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1950s and 1960s. Geoff Pryce
Geoffrey Winston Pryce (17 July 1961 – 5 December 2020) was an English rugby league footballer, most associated with York. Originally a winger, he occasionally played centre, and later in his career he moved into the second row. He was also known to play as an emergency hooker. Headingley Rugby Stadium
Headingley Rugby Stadium shares the same site as Headingley Cricket Ground and is home to Leeds Rhinos. Headingley is the List of Rugby League stadiums in England, 5th largest rugby league stadium in England. Headingley Stadium is a stadium complex in Headingley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, comprising two separate grounds; Headingley Cricket Ground and Headingley Rugby Stadium, linked by a two-sided stand housing common facilities. The grounds are the respective homes of Yorkshire County Cricket Club (CCC) and Leeds Rhinos rugby league club. 1936–37 Northern Rugby Football League Season
The 1936–37 Rugby Football League season was the 42nd season of rugby league football. Season summary Salford won their third Championship after beating Warrington 13-11 in the play-off final. Salford had also finished the regular season as league leaders. The Challenge Cup winners were Widnes who beat Keighley 18-5 in the final. Acton and Willesden were replaced by Newcastle. Streatham and Mitcham disbanded after playing 26 matches, its remaining 12 matches were recorded as forfeits to their opponents. Salford won the Lancashire League, and Leeds won the Yorkshire League. Salford beat Wigan 5–2 to win the Lancashire County Cup, and York beat Wakefield Trinity 9–2 to win the Yorkshire County Cup. Rugby League County Cups
Historically, English rugby league clubs competed for the Lancashire Cup and the Yorkshire Cup, known collectively as the county cups. The leading rugby clubs in Yorkshire had played in a cup competition (affectionately known as ''t’owd tin pot'') for several years prior to the schism of 1895. However, the Lancashire authorities had refused to sanction a similar tournament, fearing it would lead to professionalism. After the split, the replacement for the Yorkshire Cup was not immediately introduced; however, new Yorkshire and Lancashire Cups were introduced in the 1905–06 season. The county cups were played on the same basis as the Challenge Cup, with an open draw and straight knock-out matches leading to a final. The county cups were abandoned in 1993 due to the more successful clubs complaining about overloaded fixtures, but the Yorkshire Cup was revived in 2019.
