No Come Down
''No Come Down'' is a compilation album of B-sides and outtakes by The Verve, released in 1994 for Vernon Yard and Hut Recordings. It was the first release on which the original band's name Verve was changed to The Verve due to conflict with the jazz record label Verve. Overview "No Come Down", "Where the Geese Go", "Twilight", and "Six O'Clock" are outtakes from the sessions for the group's first album, '' A Storm in Heaven'', and first appeared on B-sides to singles from that album. "Blue" is presented in a different (vocally upfront) "USA Mix" - released to coincide with Verve's participation in Lollapalooza. Another outtake from the band's debut album is an earlier and folkier alternate version of "Make It 'Til Monday". The "acoustic" version of "Butterfly" is actually the same take as the album version but without the lead electric guitar overdubs and with a different, earlier vocal. The Verve
The Verve were an English Rock music, rock band formed in Wigan in 1990 by lead vocalist Richard Ashcroft, guitarist Nick McCabe, bass guitarist Simon Jones (musician), Simon Jones and drummer Peter Salisbury. Guitarist and keyboard player Simon Tong later became a member in their first reunion only. Beginning with a Psychedelic rock, psychedelic sound with their debut LP ''A Storm in Heaven'', by the mid-1990s the band had released several Extended play, EPs and four albums. They also endured name and line-up changes, break-ups, health problems, drug abuse and various lawsuits. ''A Storm in Heaven'' is the debut studio album by the English rock band the Verve, at the time known just as Verve, released on 21 June 1993 on the Hut label. It charted at number twenty-seven in the UK. In 2013, ''NME'' ranked it at number 473 in its list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Recording ''A Storm in Heaven'' was recorded at Sawmills Studios in Cornwall over seven weeks between December 1992 and January 1993, with the producer John Leckie. The A-side and B-side are the two sides of phonograph records and cassettes; these terms have often been printed on the labels of two-sided music recordings. The A-side usually features a recording that its artist, producer, or record company intends to be the initial focus of promotional efforts and radio airplay and hopefully become a hit record.
