Niue At The 2022 Commonwealth Games
Niue competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England from 28 July to 8 August 2022. It was Niue's sixth appearance at the Games. The Niue team of 15 athletes (ten men and five women), competing in three sports, was named on 20 June 2022. Boxer Travis Tapatuetoa and lawn bowler Olivia Buckingham were the delegation's flagbearers during the opening ceremony. Boxer Duken Tutakitoa-Williams became Niue's first ever Commonwealth Games medallist when he won a bronze medal in the men's heavyweight event. Niue Island Sports Association
The Niue Island Sports Association is an unrecognized National Olympic Committee and associate member of the Oceania National Olympic Committees. The organization is the national federation for all sports within Niue and represents the country at the Commonwealth Games, making its debut at the Manchester 2002. The association also organises the country's participation in the Commonwealth Youth Games. It is a signatory to the World Anti-Doping Agency. During the 2015 Pacific Games, the nation won a silver medal at the Female Lawn Bowls event and Individual BodyBuilding +100kg Male event. Boxing is one of the sports contested at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, to be held in Birmingham, England at the National Exhibition Centre Hall 4. It is one of the founding sports, having featured in every edition of the Games since the inaugural 1930 edition; the boxing competition will take place within England for the third time. The competition is scheduled to take place between 29 July and 7 August 2022, spread across sixteen events. Ato Plodzicki-Faoagali
Tupuola Seua’i Ato Leau Plodzicki-Faoagali (born 18 February 1999) is a Samoan amateur boxer who has represented Samoa at the Pacific Games, Commonwealth Games and the 2020 Summer Olympics. Amateur career He competed at the 2019 Pacific Games, where he won gold in the light heavyweight division. The COVID-19 pandemic meant that he was not able to compete in any international tournaments in the leadup to the 2020 Olympics, but was able to train in Australia alongside fello Samoan boxer Marion Ah Tong. At the Olympics he was defeated by Belarusian Uladzislau Smiahlikau in his first fight. Following the 2020 Olympics he focused on selection for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Ashish Kumar Chaudhary (born 18 July 1994) is an Indian amateur boxer who competes in the middleweight category. He won a silver medal at the 2019 Asian Championships and a gold medal at 2019 Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament held in Bangkok. Rohit Tokas (born 1 August 1993) is an Indian boxer who competes in Welterweight category. He participated in the 2022 Commonwealth Games where he won a bronze medal in Men's welterweight category. Wyatt Sanford (born November 3, 1998) is a Canadian amateur boxer who competes in the 63.5 kg weight category (welterweight). Sanford is the reigning Pan American Games champion where he won gold in the 63.5kg weight class at the 2023 Pan American Games.
