Wyatt Sanford
Wyatt Sanford (born November 3, 1998) is a Canadian amateur boxer who competes in the 63.5 kg weight category (welterweight). Sanford is the reigning Pan American Games champion where he won gold in the 63.5kg weight class at the 2023 Pan American Games. Career In 2019, Sanford competed at the 2019 AIBA World Boxing Championships. Sanford finished in the top 16, losing to the eventual gold medalist Andrey Zamkovoy of Russia in round 3. In June 2021, Sanford was named to Canada's 2020 Olympic team. Sanford qualified as the highest ranked boxer from the Americas not yet qualified. At the 2022 Pan American Championships in Ecuador, went down a category to the 63.5 kg event, winning bronze. In May 2022, Sanford was named to Canada's 2022 Commonwealth Games team where he won a bronze medal. Sanford won the gold medal at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago by unanimous decision. Kennetcook
Kennetcook is a community in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, located in the Municipal District of East Hants. Also see adjacent community of Upper Kennetcook. History The village takes its name from the Kennetcook River which is believed to come from a Mi'kmaq word meaning "The Place Further Ahead or The Place Nearby". The river was an important east-west canoe and portage route for the Mi'kmaq people connecting the Piziquid (Windsor) area with the canoe routes and settlement areas along the Shubenacadie River. A trail from Halifax to the Acadian settlements at Noel on the Minas Basin crossed the Kennetcook River at a ford near the site of the village, making it an early crossroads. After the American Revolution, the village was part of the Douglas Township, which was named after Sir Charles Douglas, 1st Baronet. Canada competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England. This was Canada's 22nd appearance at the Commonwealth Games, having competed at every Games since their inception in 1930.
