Niue Island Sports Association
The Niue Island Sports Association is an unrecognized National Olympic Committee and associate member of the Oceania National Olympic Committees. The organization is the national federation for all sports within Niue and represents the country at the Commonwealth Games, making its debut at the Manchester 2002. The association also organises the country's participation in the Commonwealth Youth Games. It is a signatory to the World Anti-Doping Agency. During the 2015 Pacific Games, the nation won a silver medal at the Female Lawn Bowls event and Individual BodyBuilding +100kg Male event. National Olympic Committee
A National Olympic Committee (NOC) is a national constituent of the worldwide Olympic movement. Subject to the controls of the International Olympic Committee, NOCs are responsible for organizing their people's participation in the Olympic Games. They may nominate cities within their respective areas as candidates for future Olympic Games. NOCs also promote the development of athletes and the training of coaches and officials at a national level within their geographies. Niue
Niue (, ; niu, Niuē) is an island country in the South Pacific Ocean, northeast of New Zealand. Niue's land area is about and its population, predominantly Polynesian, was about 1,600 in 2016. Niue is located in a triangle between Tonga, Samoa, and the Cook Islands. It is 604 kilometres northeast of Tonga. The island is commonly referred to as "The Rock", which comes from the traditional name "Rock of Polynesia". Niue is one of the world's largest coral islands. Commonwealth Games
The Commonwealth Games, often referred to as the Friendly Games or simply the Comm Games, are a quadrennial international multi-sport event among athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations. The event was first held in 1930, and, with the exception of 1942 and 1946 (cancelled due to World War II), have successively run every four years since. The Games were called the British Empire Games from 1930 to 1950, the British Empire and Commonwealth Games from 1954 to 1966, and British Commonwealth Games from 1970 to 1974. Athletes with a disability are included as full members of their national teams since 2002, making the Commonwealth Games the first fully inclusive international multi-sport event. 2002 Commonwealth Games
The 2002 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XVII Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Manchester 2002 were held in Manchester, England, from 25 July to 4 August, 2002. The 2002 Games were to be hosted in the United Kingdom to coincide with the Golden Jubilee of Elizabeth II, head of the Commonwealth, and Manchester was selected for the 2002 Games ahead of London using a recycled part of the project, which lost the 2000 Summer Olympics and Paralympics to Sydney, Australia. Commonwealth Youth Games
The Commonwealth Youth Games (CYG) is an international multi-sport event organized by the Commonwealth Games Federation. The games were held in the years, mid-way between when the Commonwealth Games are held, until 2008. They continued to be held every four years, but in the year ''after'' the Commonwealth Games are held, from 2011 to 2015. Since 2017, they've been held in the year ''before'' the Commonwealth Games are held. The first edition was held in Edinburgh, Scotland from 10–14 August 2000. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA; french: Agence mondiale antidopage, AMA) is a foundation initiated by the International Olympic Committee based in Canada to promote, coordinate, and monitor the fight against drugs in sports. 2015 Pacific Games
The 2015 Pacific Games, also known as Port Moresby 2015 or POM 2015, was held in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, from 4 to 18 July 2015. It was the fifteenth staging of the Pacific Games as well as the third to be hosted in Port Moresby. More than 3,700 athletes from the 22 Pacific Games Associations plus first time entrants Australia and New Zealand, took part. Body building at the 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea was held on July 13, 2015 at the Caritas Secondary School. In the men's competition Papua New Guinea won five gold medals. Niue Athletics Association
The Niue Athletics Association (NAA) is the governing body for the sport of athletics in Niue. History Athletes from Niue participated already at the 1979, 1983, 1991, and 2003 South Pacific Games, the 1993, and 2001 South Pacific Mini Games, and the 2002 and 2006 Commonwealth Games. They also took part at the 1994 Senior/Open and Junior Oceania Athletics Championships. It is reported, that NAA was "revived" in 2007, and was affiliated to the OAA as associate member in the year 2009. TaniRose Fakaotimanava-Lui served as president from October 2007 until July 2011.
