Nils Jansen (born 30 March 1959 in Haugesund, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz musician (saxophone and clarinet), known from several recordings and jazz orchestras. Career Jansen attended the Jazz program at Trondheim Musikkonservatorium (1995–98), and joined band like Ellipse, Per Husby Quintet, "Trondheim Big Band" and Søyr. After moving to Oslo, he has played within orchestras like "Radiostorbandet", med Espen Rud Sextet, Trygve Seim Ensemble, Magni Wentzel Sextet, "Sharp 9", and musicians like Christina Bjordal, Staffan William-Olsson and Håkon Storm. Jansen and Espen Rud has had a number of performances with the show ''Jazzmask'' for Rikskonsertene. Haugesund () is a municipality on the North Sea in Rogaland county, Norway. Magic Pocket (established 2002 in Trondheim, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz band initiated by students on the Jazz program at Trondheim Musikkonsevatorium. Career Magic Pocket is a Brass Band in miniature, performing music in the open area between jazz, rock, world and contemporary music. The quartet was included in the launch contest «JazzIntro» 2004, and contributed on the festivals Nattjazz, Dølajazz and Moldejazz. Magic Pocket was awarded «JazZtipendiat» in 2009/2010. Øyvind Brække (born 25 August 1969) is a Norwegian jazz musician (trombone), composer, music arranger and band leader, best known for Bodega Band and S. Møller Storband. He was the initiator of the popular and still active band The Source, who released several albums, and made contributions to dozens of recordings with musicians like Chick Corea, Eirik Hegdal, Per Zanussi, Erlend Skomsvoll, Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, Knut Kristiansen, Jacob Young, Trygve Seim, Per Oddvar Johansen, Mathilde Grooss Viddal, Dingobats, Sverre Gjørvad, Motorpsycho, FriEnsemblet and Come Shine. Erlend Skomsvoll
Erlend Fredrik Skomsvoll (born 12 May 1969) is a Norwegian jazz musician (piano, keyboards, accordion, and tuba), band leader, composer and arranger, known from his own band Skomsork and the band Wibutee with Live Maria Roggen, Madrugada, and Kaizers Orchestra. Trondheim Jazz Orchestra
Trondheim Jazz Orchestra (TJO) (established 1999 in Trondheim, Norway) is an orchestral project based in Trondheim, and closely related to both the Midtnorsk Jazzsenter (MNJ - Mid Norwegian Jazz Center) and Jazz Line at the Trøndelag Conservatory of Music ( NTNU). Biography During the 1990s the orchestra was a plain conservatory-band (Konsen Big Band). In 2000 the name of the band was changed to TJO. Marilyn Mazur
Marilyn Mazur (born January 18, 1955) is an American-born Danish percussionist. Since 1975, she has worked as a percussionist with various groups, among them Six Winds with Alex Riel. Mazur is primarily an autodidact, but she has a degree in percussion from the Royal Danish Academy of Music. Musical life Mazur was born in New York City in 1955, from Polish and African-American parents, who moved with her to Denmark at age 6. She learned to play the piano, but when she was 19, she took up drumming, inspired by Al Foster, Airto Moreira, and Alex Riel. She started her first band in 1973, ''Zirenes''. In 1978, she formed ''Primi'', an all-woman theatre band. Olga Konkova
Olga Konkova (born 25 August 1969) is a Norwegian–Russian jazz pianist known from several recordings and collaboration with jazz musicians such as Adam Nussbaum, Gary Husband and Karin Krog. Career Konkova was educated as classical pianist in Moscow, and later as jazz pianist at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she met her husband, the bassist Per Mathisen. After moving with him to Oslo in 1994, she collaborated with Inge Stangvik Quartet and the "Storeslem Big Band". Helge Sunde (born 9 June 1965 in Stryn, Norway) is a Norwegian composer and musician (trombone and multi-instrumentalist), known for his compositions in contemporary music and jazz for large ensembles and for his works as music arranger for symphony orchestras in collaboration with artists. Career Sunde has a diploma in composition from the Norwegian Academy of Music (1995) in Oslo, where he studied under guidance of Olav Anton Thommessen, Bjørn Kruse, Lasse Thoresen and Alfred Janson. MajorStudio AS is a Norwegian record company and music publisher who own MajorSelskapet and MajorForlaget. The company is based in Bøverbru. The company started as TUMA Holding in 1988, but changed its name to MajorStudio in 1990 when they bought a studio in Majorstuen. At the same time, Jan Paulsen took over as head, where he remains today. Together with Øyvind Staveland, Paulsen runs the company.
