Nikos Economopoulos
Nikos Economopoulos (Νίκος Οικονομόπουλος, ''Nikos Oikonomopoulos'', born 1953) is a Greek photographer known for his photography of the Balkans and of Greece in particular. Lignite
Lignite, often referred to as brown coal, is a soft, brown, combustible, sedimentary rock formed from naturally compressed peat. It has a carbon content around 25–35%, and is considered the lowest rank of coal due to its relatively low heat content. When removed from the ground, it contains a very high amount of moisture which partially explains its low carbon content. Lignite is mined all around the world and is used almost exclusively as a fuel for steam-electric power generation. The combustion of lignite produces less heat for the amount of carbon dioxide and sulfur released than other ranks of coal. As a result, environmental advocates have characterized lignite as the most harmful coal to human health. ''The Independent'' is a British online newspaper. It was established in 1986 as a national morning printed paper. ''The Guardian'' is a British daily newspaper. It was founded in 1821 as ''The Manchester Guardian'', and changed its name in 1959. Abdi İpekçi (9 August 1929 – 1 February 1979) was a Turkish journalist, intellectual and an activist for human rights. He was murdered while editor-in-chief of one of the main Turkish daily newspapers ''Milliyet'' which then had a centre-left political stance. Biography İpekçi was born in Istanbul, Turkey to a wealthy prominent elite Sabbatean Alevi-Bektashi family of the Karakaşı denominational sect originally from Salonica.
