Nicole Pitts
Nicole Pitts (born November 3, 1986) is an American former professional tennis player. Pitts, a Junior Orange Bowl (14s) champion in 2000, turned professional as a teenager. She made a WTA Tour main draw appearance at the 2002 Kroger St. Jude International in Memphis, where she was beaten in the first round by the ninth-seeded Irina Selyutina. With a wrist injury ending her career early, Pitts attended medical school in Tennessee and now works as a pediatric sports medicine physician. Tennis is a racket sport that is played either individually against a single opponent ( singles) or between two teams of two players each ( doubles). Each player uses a tennis racket that is strung with cord to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over or around a net and into the opponent's court. Junior Orange Bowl (tennis)
The Junior Orange Bowl is a youth tennis tournament, held in Coral Gables, Florida, for the "14 and under" and "12 and under" age categories. Boys and girls compete in separate draws. Jodi Appelbaum-Steinbauer is the tournament director. History The global Junior Orange Bowl tournament has as competitors the top-ranked male and female 12-and-under and 14-and-under junior players, from over 76 countries. The Orange Bowl tournament was founded in 1947. The "14 and under" and "12 and under" tournaments began in 1962. Irina Gennadyevna Selyutina (Ирина Геннадьевна Селютина; born 7 November 1979) is a former tennis player from Kazakhstan. She is a former world No. 1 in junior doubles, winning French Open and Wimbledon in 1997, partnering with Cara Black. Black and Selyutina were also crowned ITF Junior Girls Doubles World Champion in 1997. Selyutina won three doubles titles on the WTA Tour – J&S Cup with Cătălina Cristea in 1999, Canberra Women's Classic with Nannie De Villiers and Porto Open with Black in 2002.
