Nicolai Næss (born 18 January 1993) is a Norwegian professional footballer who plays as a defender for Stabæk. Career Club Næss made his debut for Vålerenga on 31 March 2012 against Strømsgodset, they lost the game 3–2. Stabæk Prior to the start of the 2013 season, Næss signed for Stabæk. Columbus Crew SC On 21 July 2016, Næss signed with Columbus Crew. He made his club debut on 13 August 2016 in a 3–3 draw against New York City FC. The 2020 Eliteserien was the 76th season of top-tier football in Norway. This was fourth season of Eliteserien as rebranding from Tippeligaen. The season was scheduled to begin on 4 April, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Norway the opening games of the season were delayed, first until 2 May, then further delayed until 23 May. The season was scheduled to end 29 November 2020, not including play-off matches, but was rescheduled to conclude on 22 December. On 7 May, the Norwegian government allowed the league to start on 16 June with full training starting immediately. Molde were the defending champions. Aalesund, Sandefjord and Start joined as the promoted clubs from the 2019 1. divisjon. They replaced Lillestrøm, Tromsø and Ranheim who were relegated to the 2020 1. divisjon. The 2017 Columbus Crew SC season was the club's twenty-second season of existence, and their twenty-second consecutive season in Major League Soccer, the top flight of American soccer. Columbus also competed in the U.S. Open Cup, and took part in the Carolina Challenge Cup during preseason. The season covered the period from October 24, 2016 to the start of the 2018 Major League Soccer season. Crew SC won the Carolina Challenge Cup by going 2–1–0, defeating Seattle Sounders FC in the final game to clinch the title.
