New South Wales 1200 Class Railcar
The 1200 class railcar or Tulloch railcar were a type of diesel railcar built by Tulloch Limited for the New South Wales railways department between June 1970 and May 1972. They were built to operate the ''Riverina Express'' before being transferred to the ''South Coast Daylight Express''. History In 1968, an order was placed with Tulloch Limited for 10 railcars for the ''Riverina Express'' with the fleet delivered between October 1970 and May 1972. While awaiting delivery of sufficient cars to operate the service, some were used on Goulburn Day Train and ''South Coast Daylight Express'' services in company with the 1100 class railcars. The 1100 class railcar or Budd railcar were a type of diesel railcar built by Commonwealth Engineering for the Department of Railways New South Wales in 1961. They primarily operated on the ''South Coast Daylight Express'' until withdrawn in 1993. History During the 1950s, the Department of Railways New South Wales ordered rolling stock for the ''Brisbane Limited'', including some stainless steel double deck sleeping carriages. Due to financial constraints only ten conventional sleeping carriages were built. To use the excess materials that had been stockpiled, Commonwealth Engineering constructed five cars, four self-propelled Budd Rail Diesel Cars, and a matching non-powered trailer car. While following Budd RDC layouts, these cars were smaller than standard, being only 77 feet in length and narrower in width to fit the NSW loading gauge. ''Railway Digest'' is a monthly magazine, published in Sydney, covering contemporary railways of Australia. Overview The magazine's publisher is the Australian Railway Historical Society (ARHS), NSW Division. The first issue was published in March 1963 under the name ''New South Wales Digest'' and regular publication commenced with the May 1963 edition. It was renamed in January 1983. In January 1985 it changed paper size from SRA5 to A4. Newcastle Flyer
The Newcastle Flyer was an Australian passenger express train that operated from November 1929 until April 1988 connecting New South Wales' two largest cities, Sydney and Newcastle. Early history On 1 May 1889 the first trains began running between Sydney and Newcastle. However, it was not until November 1929, with the pending completion of the Pacific Highway, that a premier express service was introduced. Two trains named the ''Inter City Express'' and the ''Northern Commercial Limited'' were introduced taking 2 hours 45 minutes to cover the 168 kilometres. Bomaderry Railway Station
Bomaderry railway station is a heritage-listed single-platform intercity train station located in Bomaderry, New South Wales, Australia, on the South Coast railway line. The 900/800 class railcars (or DEB sets) were Diesel Multiple Units built by the New South Wales Government Railways between November 1951 and November 1960. Hillston
Hillston is a township in western New South Wales, Australia, in Carrathool Shire, on the banks of the Lachlan River. It was founded in 1863 and at the had a population of 1,465.
