New Orleans Film Society
The New Orleans Film Society (NOFS) is a nonprofit arts organization located in New Orleans, Louisiana. The organization presents and exhibits year-round film programming and events in addition to the annual New Orleans Film Festival. The New Orleans Film Society was founded in 1989. The film festival has grown into a major showcase of local, regional, national, and international films. In addition to the annual Festival each autumn, the NOFS hosts special events throughout the year: the French Film Festival, Moonlight Movies, Film-o-Rama, the New Orleans International Children's Film Festival, and other events designed to benefit local film audiences, artists, and professionals. New Orleans Film Festival
The New Orleans Film Festival is an annual film festival organized by the nonprofit organization New Orleans Film Society, a film society founded in 1989. The festival has been held since the society's inception. The festival takes place in mid-October. The festival, nicknamed "Cannes on the Mississippi", features national and international feature films and short films. The festival had one off-year when New Orleans suffered the effects of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. the festival had grown into an internationally respected annual event that attracts 20–25,000 people, 400+ filmmakers, and 240 films. The French Film Festival - Richmond, VA is an annual film festival held in Richmond, Virginia, focused on recently produced French-language films. It was created in 1993 by Drs. Peter and Françoise Kirkpatrick, professors of French literature, culture and film studies at Virginia Commonwealth University and University of Richmond, respectively. The New Orleans Museum of Art (or NOMA) is the oldest fine arts museum in the city of New Orleans. It is situated within City Park, a short distance from the intersection of Carrollton Avenue and Esplanade Avenue, and near the terminus of the "Canal Street - City Park" streetcar line.
