New Generation Party (Costa Rica)
The New Generation Party () is a conservative political party in Costa Rica. The party was founded in 2012 in order to partake in the 2014 general election. In the 2014 election its nominee was party's founder Sergio Mena, former councilor of Montes de Oca municipal council and president of this. Mena was also first in parliamentary list, but the party did not earn enough votes to enter Parliament and Mena himself received 1.2% of the presidential ticket. Yet, in the following 2016 mid-term municipal elections, the party won three cantons therefore electing three mayors and many councilors, and placed in fourth after some of Costa Rica's major parties like PLN, PAC and PUSC. Most of the party's candidates though were already well known political figures rejected by their original parties. Church-state Separation
The separation of church and state is a philosophical and jurisprudential concept for defining political distance in the relationship between religious organizations and the state. 2022 Costa Rican General Election
General elections were held in Costa Rica on 6 February 2022, to elect the president, two vice-presidents, and all 57 deputies of the Legislative Assembly. As none of the presidential nominees obtained at least 40% of the votes, a runoff was held on 3 April 2022, between the top two candidates, José María Figueres and Rodrigo Chaves Robles. Rodrigo Chaves Robles of the Social Democratic Progress Party, a former official of the World Bank and former Minister of Finance with an anti-establishment reputation, won 52.9% of the votes in the run-off ballot and was declared president-elect by the Electoral Tribunal. Erick Rodríguez Steller
Erick Rodríguez Steller ( San Ramón, April 11, 1969) is a Costa Rican politician, deputy in Costa Rica in the 2018-2022 period. He was elected by the National Integration Party during Juan Diego Castro Fernández candidacy, but then declared himself an independent deputy, a month before taking office soon after Castro did the same. Later, he would announce his incorporation into the New Generation Party. Steller was one of the only seven deputies who refused to acknowledge the triumph of the US candidate Joe Biden, claiming "that there was suspicion of fraud".
