State Route 895 (SR 895) is a short state highway in White Pine County, Nevada. It is a spur route off of SR 318, serving the community of Preston near Lund. The route was designated in 1976, and has not changed significantly since. Route description SR 895 starts at the eastern side of Preston, and turns northwestward. As the route leaves Preston, it turns northward. The road heads across the desert for about a mile, then ends at SR 318 at a T-intersection. SR 895 is not part of the National Highway System. White Pine County is a largely rural, mountain county along the central eastern boundary of the U.S. state of Nevada. As of the 2010 census, the population was 10,030. Its county seat is Ely. A spur route is a short road forming a branch from a longer, more important road such as a freeway, Interstate Highway, or motorway. A bypass or beltway should not be considered a true spur route as it typically reconnects with another or the same major road. State Route 318 (SR 318) is a state highway in eastern Nevada. It is often used as a shortcut for long-distance traffic along U.S. Route 93, bypassing the longer and less direct route U.S. Route 93 follows between Ely and Crystal Springs. Lund is a small town and census-designated place in White Pine County, Nevada, United States. The population of Lund as of 2020 was 211. Etymology Lund was named for Anthon H. Lund, a Mormon church official. History Lund was settled in 1898 on land that the United States government had given the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) in lieu of land that had been confiscated under the Edmunds–Tucker Act.
