Lyon County is a County (United States), county in the U.S. state of Nevada. As of the 2020 United States Census, 2020 census, the population was 59,235. History Lyon County was one of the nine original counties created on November 25, 1861. It was named after Nathaniel Lyon, the first Union General to be killed in the American Civil War, Civil War. State Route 208 (SR 208) is a state highway in Douglas and Lyon counties in Nevada, United States. It connects U.S. Route 395 (US 395) north of Topaz Lake to U.S. Route 95 Alternate in Yerington. The road serves as the primary transportation corridor of Smith Valley and is Main street in Yerington. The route was originally a portion of State Route 3. Route description The character of the highway gradually changes descending from the foothills of the Sierra Nevada into high desert, finally reaching the agricultural communities of Smith and Mason Valleys.
