Lyon County is a County (United States), county in the U.S. state of Nevada. As of the 2020 United States Census, 2020 census, the population was 59,235. Lyon County comprises the Fernley, NV Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is part of the Reno, Nevada, Reno-Carson City, Nevada, Carson City-Fernley, NV Reno–Sparks metropolitan area, Combined Statistical Area. History Lyon County was one of the nine original counties created on November 25, 1861. It was named after Nathaniel Lyon, the first Union General to be killed in the American Civil War, Civil War. Its first county seat was established at Dayton, Nevada, Dayton on November 29, 1861, which had just changed its name from Nevada City, Nevada, Nevada City in 1862, and which had been called Chinatown before that. Yerington is a city in Lyon County, Nevada, United States. The population was 3,048 at the 2010 census. It is the current county seat of Lyon County, with the first county seat having been established at Dayton on November 29, 1861. It is named after Henry M. Yerington, superintendent of the Virginia and Truckee Railroad from 1868 to 1910. Nevada State Route 427
State Route 427 (SR 427) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Nevada. It connects the community of Wadsworth in eastern Washoe County to the city of Fernley in western Lyon County. SR 427 comprises the former routing of U.S. Route 40 (US 40) through the towns it serves. SR 427 also provides an eastern link to Pyramid Lake via a junction with State Route 447 in Wadsworth. Route description SR 427 begins at a cattleguard on Cantlon Drive just south of the Wadsworth/Pyramid Lake interchange (Exit 43) on Interstate 80 (I-80) in Washoe County. The highway proceeds northeast from there to meet State Route 447 in the middle of Wadsworth. The route curves southeast through the town and immediately enters Lyon County. Passing south under I-80 once again, as well as the Union Pacific railroad tracks, SR 427 curves east to follow Main Street/Truckee Lane into Fernley. Business Loop 80
Interstate 80 Business (I-80 Bus), called the Capital City Freeway in its entirety and also known as Business 80, is a business loop of Interstate 80 (I-80) through Sacramento, California, United States. The route is also colloquially referred to as "Cap City Freeway" and "Biz 80". The entire route is a freeway. It originally carried mainline I-80 through Sacramento until the early 1980s. The eastern half, originally known as the Elvas Freeway, was initially grandfathered into the Interstate Highway System; however, plans to upgrade or realign this portion to meet Interstate Highway standards were canceled.
