Nesthy Petecio
Nesthy Alcayde Petecio (born April 11, 1992) is a Philippines, Filipino amateur boxer. She won a silver medal in the inaugural Boxing at the 2020 Summer Olympics - Women's featherweight, women's featherweight event at the 2020 Summer Olympics, becoming the first Filipino woman to win an Olympic medal in boxing. She also won a silver medal at the 2014 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships, 2014 World Championships and gold at the 2019 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships, 2019 edition. Early life and education Nesthy Petecio was born in Santa Cruz, Davao del Sur, Santa Cruz, Davao del Sur to parents Teodoro and Prescilla Petecio. Petecio came from a poor family; her father was a farmer while her mother is a housewife. At a young age, Nesthy and her siblings had to aid their parents in the farm to earn a living. Amateur Boxer
Amateur boxing is a variant of boxing practiced at the collegiate level, at the Olympic Games, Pan American Games and Commonwealth Games, as well as many associations. Amateur boxing bouts are short in duration, comprising three rounds of three minutes in men, and four rounds of two minutes in women, each with a one-minute interval between rounds. Men's senior bouts changed in format from four two-minute rounds to three three-minute rounds on January 1, 2009. The 2021 Southeast Asian Games ( vi, Đại hội Thể thao Đông Nam Á 2021, lit=2021 Southeast Asian Sport Festival), officially known as the 31st Southeast Asian Games, or the 31st SEA Games and also known as Vietnam 2021, was the 31st edition of the Southeast Asian Games, the biennial regional multi-sport event which was held in Hanoi, Vietnam and its surrounding cities from 12 to 23 May 2022.
