Neriman Cahit
Neriman Cahit (born 1937) is a Turkish Cypriot poet and author. Biography Neriman Cahit was born in Krini (known as ''Kırnı'' in Turkish at the time) in 1937. The eldest of three sisters, she went to her village's primary school for three years. Her parents, concerned for the education of their daughter, transferred her to the Atatürk Primary School in Nicosia, where she resided for the rest of her life. She started penning her thoughts at the 5th year of primary school. She went to the Victoria Girls' High School, where she studied classics with the help of her philosophy teacher and became increasingly vocal with her writing. ''Nokta'' ("Point" in Turkish) was a leading Turkish weekly political news magazine. Founded in 1983, it was closed down by its owner in 2007 under military pressure after revealing several coup plots. Revived in 2015, it was closed again in the course of the 2016–17 Turkish purges. Contributors to ''Nokta'' included Ayşe Arman, Can Dündar and Ahmet Şık. History and profile The magazine was launched by Ercan Arıklı on 1 March 1982 as ''Nokta ve İnsanlar''. ''Yeni Düzen'' or ''Yenidüzen'' is a daily newspaper published in Northern Cyprus. Its current editor in chief is Cenk Mutluyakalı. As of July 2014, it consisted of 24 pages and its daily circulation was 4700. The newspaper belongs to the Republican Turkish Party (CTP). It is under the United Media Group along with its sister television channel, Kanal Sim. Regarding its political point of view, Mutluyakalı has stated that while it is nominally owned by the CTP and is a "side" to current events, the newspapers follows an independent line and at times publishes material that is upsetting for the CTP. Its basic political line of thought centers around its struggle for a united Cyprus and an immediate solution for the Cyprus dispute. A rhyme is a repetition of similar sounds (usually, the exact same phonemes) in the final stressed syllables and any following syllables of two or more words.
