Nepean—Carleton (provincial Electoral District)
Nepean-Carleton was a provincial electoral district in eastern Ontario, Canada. It elected one member to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1999 to 2014. The riding was represented in the Ontario legislature by Progressive Conservative John Baird since it became a provincial riding in 1999 until he resigned in 2005 to run in the 2006 federal election. PC candidate Lisa MacLeod won the provincial by-election to fill the vacancy that was held on March 30, 2006. Following the 2018 election, the district was dissolved into Nepean, Carleton, Orléans, and Kanata—Carleton. History The riding was created in 1999, to match its federal counterpart. Ottawa–Rideau was a short lived provincial electoral district (Canada), electoral district in Ottawa, Ontario. It elected one member to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. It was created in 1987 and was abolished in 1999 into Ottawa South (provincial electoral district), Ottawa South, Nepean–Carleton, Ottawa West–Nepean and Ottawa Centre (provincial electoral district), Ottawa Centre. The riding included all of pre-amalgamation Ottawa south of Walkley Road south of Baseline Road (Ottawa), Baseline Road. Carleton (Ontario Electoral District)
Carleton is a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada, represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1867 to 1968 and since 2015. It was represented in the Legislative Assembly of Upper Canada from 1821 to 1840 and in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada from 1841 until 1866. The original riding was created by the British North America Act of 1867. However, the riding had existed since 1821 in the Parliament of Upper Canada and the Parliament of the Province of Canada. It originally consisted of Carleton County. In 1966, it was redistributed into the new electoral districts of Grenville—Carleton, Lanark and Renfrew, Ottawa Centre, Ottawa West and Ottawa—Carleton. Kanata—Carleton (provincial Electoral District)
Kanata—Carleton is a provincial electoral district in Ottawa, Ontario which was first contested in the 2018 provincial election. The riding was created federally with the 2012 redistribution process. That same process was announced by the Ontario government, meaning the provincial ridings will follow a similar boundary division for the 2018 provincial election. The new riding contains almost all of the portion of the former Carleton—Mississippi Mills located in Ottawa, except for the portion south of Highway 7/ Highway 417 that transferred Carleton. Carleton is a provincial riding in Ontario, Canada. It was created in 1867 at the time of confederation and lasted until provincial redistribution in 1996. In the 1999 provincial election it was redistributed into Nepean—Carleton and Lanark—Carleton. In 2007 it was abolished into Carleton—Mississippi Mills and Lanark—Frontenac—Lennox and Addington. Nepean is a provincial electoral district that has existed from 1987 to 1999, and again since 2018. The riding was re-created federally with the 2012 redistribution process. The 2018 Ontario general election was held on June 7, 2018, to elect the 124 members of the 42nd Parliament of Ontario. The Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario, led by Doug Ford, won 76 of the 124 seats in the legislature and formed a majority government. Lisa MacLeod
Lisa Anne MacLeod (born 1974) is a Canadian politician who has represented Nepean in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. Elected in 2018, MacLeod is a member of the Progressive Conservative (PC) Party. She previously served as the Ontario minister of children, community and social services from 2018 to 2019 and Ontario minister of heritage, sport, tourism and culture industries from 2019 to 2022. Background MacLeod was born on October 29, 1974, in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. She went to St. Francis Xavier University, where she obtained a degree in political science. In 1998, she moved to Ottawa with a goal of becoming involved in politics.
