Nepal Nursing Council (NNC)
The Nepal Nursing Council (NNC) is a statutory body for establishing uniform and high standards of Nursing education in Nepal. The Council grants recognition of nursing qualifications, gives accreditation to Nursing schools, administers Nursing Licensing Exam (NLEN) and maintains the registration of Registered Nurses in Nepal. NNC was established in 1996 under Nepal Nursing Council Act 1996. Chairperson of NNC is nominated by the Nepal government from among qualified individuals. The Government of Nepal ( ne, नेपाल सरकार) is the federal executive authority of Nepal. Prior to the abolition of the Nepali monarchy in 2006 (became republic in 2008), it was officially known as His Majesty's Government. Accreditation is the independent, third-party evaluation of a conformity assessment body (such as certification body, inspection body or laboratory) against recognised standards, conveying formal demonstration of its impartiality and competence to carry out specific conformity assessment tasks (such as certification, inspection and testing). Accreditation bodies are established in many economies with the primary purpose of ensuring that conformity assessment bodies are subject to oversight by an authoritative body. The Nepal Medical Council (NMC) is a statutory body regulating medical education and registration of doctors in Nepal. NMC was established in 1964 under Nepal Medical Council Act 1964. The Nepal Ayurvedic Medical Council (NAMC) is a statutory body for establishing uniform and high standards of Ayurvedic medical education in Nepal. Ayurveda is a system of medicine with historical roots in ancient Hindu Culture. The modern practices Ayurvedic Medicine derived from Ayurveda traditions are a type of complementary or alternative medicine. NAMC was established in 1988 under Nepal Ayurveda Medical Council Act of 1988. The Council grants recognition of medical qualifications, gives accreditation to c medical schools, grants registration to medical practitioners, and monitors medical practice in Nepal. Nepal Engineering Council
Nepal Engineering Council is an autonomous government body formed on 11 March 1999 under The Nepal Engineering Council Act. The council was established in order to mobilize the engineering profession in a systematic and scientific manner by making it effective, as well as to make provision for, among other matters, the registration of the names of engineers as per their qualifications. The council used to register engineers based on academic certificates until 2022. An amendment bill was registered in the parliament in June 2019 and was passed in August 2022 which makes mandatory to take exams from the council to get license. As of 2022, there are 37 engineering field for which license are issued. Education In Nepal
The educational system in Nepal was long based on home-schooling and ''gurukulas''. This was similar to the former Indian system of education, in which the pupils would learn either in their homes or with reputed priests or Gurus. Before Nepal was declared a democratic country, the general public had no access to formal education. The first formal school, Durbar High School, established by Jung Bahadur Rana in 1853, was intended for the elite. The birth of Nepalese democracy in 1951 opened its classrooms to a more diverse population. Education in Nepal from the primary school to the university level has been modeled from the very inception on the Indian system, which is in turn the legacy of the old British Raj.
