Neilson Township
The Neilson Township is located in the unorganized territory of Lac-Blanc in Portneuf Regional County Municipality, in the administrative region of the Capitale-Nationale, in Quebec, in Canada. Geography Located on the north shore of Saint Lawrence River, about fifty miles northwest of Quebec City, the territory of the township is irregularly shaped. It is an extension of the lordship Saint-Gabriel and fief Hubert. This township is part of Portneuf Regional County Municipality. This township is crossed by the Neilson River (Portneuf) and several small streams. The main water bodies are Aaron and Picard lakes. Toponymy Adopted around 1916, the name “Canton Neilson” (Neilson Township) honors John Neilson (1776-1848). Lac-Blanc is an unorganized territory in the Capitale-Nationale region of Quebec, Canada, in the north-east of the Portneuf Regional County Municipality. This unorganized territory covers 567.80 km ². The main lake, designated "White Lake" has the shape of a fine, oriented north–south. Saint-Raymond, Quebec
Saint-Raymond, also called Saint-Raymond de Portneuf, is a city in Quebec, Canada, located about north-west of Quebec City. It is the largest city in population and area of the Portneuf Regional County Municipality. Geography Saint-Raymond is located on either side of the Sainte-Anne River. The municipal territory extends far to the north and has a total area of 670 km2. Most of the municipality is made up of forests where several chalets are built. Township (Quebec)
A township (french: canton) in Quebec, Canada, is a cadastral division of the land. The township system was implemented by the British government to facilitate the granting of public lands for settlement by populations of European background, particularly Loyalists from the American Revolution. Townships were initially also a unit of local government, but that is no longer the case. Townships are now used solely for land description and do not have a governmental function. In the Quebec system, townships for the most part are approximately 10 miles by 10 miles square, except for those located on the banks of a navigable waterway which are 9 miles abreast and 12 miles deep. Canadian Forces Base Valcartier (CFB Valcartier), now re-designated 2 Canadian Division Support Base Valcartier (2 CDSB Valcartier), is a Canadian Forces base located in the municipality of Saint-Gabriel-de-Valcartier, north northwest of Quebec City, Quebec, Canada.
