Naval Port Of Karlskrona
The Karlskrona naval base ( sv, Karlskrona örlogsbas) is the largest naval base of the Swedish Navy. Located in Blekinge in southern Sweden, the base has close ties with the city of Karlskrona. It has an exceptionally well-sheltered location: arcs of islands provide a strong defense not only from the sea but also from land attacks. Two of Sweden's three naval warfare flotillas are based there. It contains the Marinmuseum and the Ropewalk, the longest wooden building in the country. History After Sweden and Denmark ceased hostilities after the Scanian War (1675–1679), King Charles XI of Sweden made a reconnaissance trip in the eastern part of the Blekinge archipelago. The king decreed the construction of a city named "Carlscroona" on the island of Trossön. Karlskrona Municipality (''Karlskrona kommun'') is a Municipalities of Sweden, municipality in Blekinge County in South Sweden in southern Sweden. It borders to Emmaboda Municipality, Torsås Municipality and Ronneby Municipality. The city of Karlskrona is the seat of the municipality. Blekinge Archipelago
Blekinge archipelago is an archipelago in the Baltic Sea, located in Blekinge in the south of Sweden. Geography Blekinge archipelago stretches among almost the entire coastline of Blekinge, from west to east. It covers some including water; the landmass amounts to about . The archipelago is dominated by a few large islands, Tjärö, Aspö, Hasslö, Tärnö and Sturkö, with smaller islands and skerries interspersed. In the whole archipelago area, some 85,000 people live, of whom 4,000 are islanders. The island of Utlängan is the farthest out to sea of the archipelago's islands; only the lighthouse rock Utklippan is farther out. Naval Base (Sweden)
The Naval Base ( sv, Marinbasen, MarinB) is a naval unit within the Swedish Navy that has operated in various forms since 1928. The unit is mainly based within Karlskrona naval base in Karlskrona and but operations are also conducted at Berga Naval Base and Muskö naval base outside Stockholm and in Gothenburg. Heraldry and traditions Colour The colour was presented to the former Karlskrona Coastal Artillery Regiment (KA 2) at Stockholm Palace by His Majesty the King Gustaf V on 1 June 1945. It was used as regimental colour by KA 2 until 1 July 2001. KA 2 was disbanded in 2000, and during a disbandment ceremony on 31 October 2000, the colour was handed over to the South Coast Naval Base, which was the unit that will carry forward the traditions of the Karlskrona Coastal Artillery Regiment. Gamla, alt. sp. Gamala ( he, גַּמְלָא, The Camel) was an ancient Jewish city on the Golan Heights. It is believed to have been founded as a Seleucid fort during the Syrian Wars which was turned into a city under Hasmonean rule in 81 BCE. 3rd Naval Warfare Flotilla ( sv, Tredje sjöstridsflottiljen or ''3. sjöstridsflj'') of the Swedish Fleet was founded in 2005 when the former minelayer and surface flotillas joined together. The flotilla's home base is in Karlskrona, Blekinge and is a part of the Karlskrona naval base. The flotilla mostly deploy ships in international missions today. The 1st Submarine Flotilla ( sv, Första ubåtsflottiljen, 1. ubflj) is a unit of the Swedish Fleet which has operated in various forms since 1904. Its unit staff is located at Karlskrona naval base, Blekinge in Karlskrona Garrison. History The embryo of the 1st Submarine Flotilla was formed in 1904, when the Swedish Navy was supplied with its first submarine, ''Hajen'', and the submarine force was formed. Soviet submarine ''S-363'' was a Soviet Navy of the Baltic Fleet, which became notable under the designation U137 when it ran aground on 27 October 1981 on the south coast of Sweden, approximately from Karlskrona, one of the largest Swedish naval bases. U137 was the unofficial Swedish name for the vessel, as the Soviets considered names of most of their submarines to be classified at the time and did not disclose them. '' Count Erik Jönsson Dahlbergh (10 October 162516 January 1703) was a Swedish military engineer, Governor-general and Field marshal. He rose to the level of nobility through his military competence. As an architect and draftsman, he was renowned for fortification works. He is most known for his collection of engravings '' Suecia Antiqua et Hodierna'', a collection of engravings of topographical research. Biography Erik Dahlbergh was born in Stockholm, Sweden. His early studies involved the science of fortification. Orphaned at an early age, Dahlbergh's studies qualified him as a scribe and in 1641 he found employment in Hamburg with Gerdt Rehnskiöld (1610−1658), senior accountant for Pommern and Mecklenburg.
