Natuurhistorisch Museum Rotterdam
The (; en, Natural History Museum Rotterdam) is a natural history museum located in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The museum opened in 1927. It had 44,009 visitors in 2015. History In 1922, the Rotterdam section of the Nederlandsche Natuurhistorische Vereeniging (Dutch Natural History Association) founded the Vereeniging tot Oprichting en Instandhouding van een Natuurhistorisch Museum (Association for Establishing and Maintaining a Natural History Museum). In 1927, the Natuurhistorisch Museum (Natural History Museum) opened. Location The museum is located in Villa Dijkzigt at the Museumpark, close to the Kunsthal and Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. The villa dates from 1852 and was originally built by J. F. Metzelaar for the Van Hoboken family. Municipal Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen () is an art museum in Rotterdam in the Netherlands. The name of the museum is derived from the two most important collectors of Frans Jacob Otto Boijmans and Daniël George van Beuningen. It is located at the Museumpark in the district Rotterdam Centrum, close to the Kunsthal and the Natural History Museum Rotterdam, Natural History Museum. The museum opened in 1849. It houses the collections of Frans Jacob Otto Boijmans (1767–1847) and Daniël George van Beuningen (1877–1955). The museum has become the house of over 151,000 artworks over 170 years. Erick van Egeraat (; born 1956) is a Dutch architect and author. He heads the architectural practice based in Rotterdam with offices in Moscow, Budapest and Prague. He is best known for his projects of ING Group Headquarters in Budapest, Drents Museum in Assen, The Rock tower in Amsterdam, Incineration line in Roskilde, Main building and Auditorium in Leipzig University and the Corporate University of Sberbank in Moscow. The Kunsthal ( en, Art Hall) is an art museum in Rotterdam. It opened in 1992. Overview The museum is situated in the Museumpark of Rotterdam next to the Natuurhistorisch Museum Rotterdam, and in the vicinity of the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. Entrance to the Kunsthal is from the Westzeedijk. The building was designed by the Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas together with project architect Fuminori Hoshino of the architectural firm OMA ( Office for Metropolitan Architecture). Wim van Krimpen was its first director. The Kunsthal has no permanent collection, but organises a wide range of temporary exhibits. The large space available allows various exhibits in parallel. Museumpark
Museumpark is an urban park in Rotterdam, Netherlands, located between the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Westersingel, Westzeedijk and the complex of the Erasmus MC, a medical centre affiliated with the Erasmus University. The park lies on the former land of the Hoboken family, who lived in the building that is since 1987 the Natuurhistorisch Museum Rotterdam. The park was laid out in 1927 to the design of the architect Witteveen. On the south side of the pond in the park a monument for Gerrit Jongh, director of municipal works in Rotterdam. There are several artworks in the park, so it also serves as a sculpture garden.
