National Indigenous Television
National Indigenous Television (NITV) is an Australian free-to-air television channel that broadcasts programming produced and presented largely by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. It includes the half-hourly nightly ''NITV News'', with programming including other news and current affairs programmes, sports coverage, entertainment for children and adults, films and documentaries covering a range of topics. Its primary audience is Indigenous Australians, but many non-Indigenous people tune in to learn more about the history of and issues affecting the country's First Nations peoples. NITV was initially only carried by cable and satellite providers, along with some limited over-the-air transmissions in certain remote areas. 576i is a standard-definition digital video mode, originally used for digitizing analog television in most countries of the world where the utility frequency for electric power distribution is 50 Hz. Because of its close association with the legacy color encoding systems, it is often referred to as PAL, PAL/SECAM or SECAM when compared to its 60 Hz (typically, see PAL-M) NTSC-colour-encoded counterpart, 480i. The Senate is the upper house of the bicameral Parliament of Australia, the lower house being the House of Representatives. Kerrynne Liddle is an Australian politician and the first Indigenous federal member of parliament from South Australia. She is an Arrente woman and member of the Liberal Party. She was elected to the Senate on the party's ticket in South Australia at the 2022 federal election, to a term beginning on 1 July 2022. She was a journalist and corporate manager before entering politics. Early life Liddle was born and raised in Alice Springs. NSW Koori Knockout
NSW Koori Rugby League Knockout Carnival is one of the biggest Indigenous gatherings in Australia. The first knockout was held at Camdenville Park, St Peters, on the October long weekend of 1971 with seven participating teams. The winning team gains the right to host the next knockout. Organisers created the knockout to provide further access for Indigenous players to state rugby league. The knockout celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2022.
