National Disaster Management Act, 2010 was passed by Parliament of Pakistan in 2010, it received the assent of the President on 8 December 2010. 2010 Pakistan Floods
The floods in Pakistan began in late July 2010, resulting from heavy monsoon rains in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Punjab and, Balochistan regions of Pakistan, which affected the Indus River basin. Approximately one-fifth of Pakistan's total land area was affected by floods, with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province facing the brunt of the damage and casualties (above 90% of all the deaths occurred in the province). Nationwide, there were 1,985 deaths. According to Pakistani government data, the floods directly affected about 20 million people, mostly by destruction of property, livelihood and infrastructure. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon had initially asked for US$460 million (€420 million) for emergency relief, noting that the flood was the worst disaster he had ever seen. Only 20% of the relief funds requested had been received on 15 August 2010. Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) is a provincial government organization, which deals with natural or man-made disasters in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. PDMA's mandate is to engage in activities concerning to all four stages of Disaster Management Spectrum. It was established on 14 May 2010 under the National Disaster Management Act, 2010. In May 2019, the Fata Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) was abolished and its functions were transferred to Provincial Disaster Management Authority (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), after the Federally Administered Tribal Areas were merged into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after the passing of the Twenty-fifth and Twenty-sixth Amendments to the Constitution of Pakistan. The Districts of Pakistan ( ur, ); are the third-order administrative divisions of Pakistan, below provinces and divisions, but forming the first-tier of local government. In total, there are 169 districts in Pakistan including the Capital Territory and the districts of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan. These districts are further divided into ''Tehsils, Union Councils''. History In 1947, when Pakistan gained independence there were 124 districts.
