Nashville Venom
The Nashville Venom were a professional indoor football team, one of eight franchises of the Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL). Based in Nashville, Tennessee, the Venom were members of the American Conference. The team began play in 2014 as an expansion team. The team played at Nashville Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, which opened in 1962. The Venom were the second indoor/arena football team to call Nashville home, and the first since the Arena Football League's Nashville Kats (1997–2001 and 2005–07). After two seasons and the folding of the PIFL, the Venom ceased operations in 2015. Nashville Municipal Auditorium
The Nashville Municipal Auditorium is an indoor sports and concert venue in Nashville, Tennessee. It opened October 7, 1962 with both an arena and exhibition hall. The former exhibition hall has been permanent home to the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum since 2013. Nashville Municipal Auditorium was previously home to various teams, most notably the Belmont Bruins of the National Collegiate Athletic Association from 2001–2003. Phillip Barnett (born June 3, 1990) is an American football wide receiver who is currently a free agent. He previously played for the Washington Valor of the Arena Football League (AFL) and played college football at the University of Toledo. College career Barnett signed a letter of intent with the University of Toledo to play football, however he never appeared in a single game for the Rockets. Professional career Cincinnati Commandos Barnett signed with the Cincinnati Commandos of the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL). Richmond Raiders
The Richmond Raiders were a professional indoor football team located in Richmond, Virginia the Richmond Coliseum as their home arena. The Raiders began play in the 2010 as an expansion team of the American Indoor Football Association (AIFA). The Raiders moved to the Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL) when the Eastern Division of the AIFA merged with the SIFL in the winter of 2010, beginning SIFL play in the 2011 season. After just a single season in the SIFL the Raiders, along with four other members of the SIFL, became the charter members of the Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL). 2015 PIFL Season
The 2015 Professional Indoor Football League season was the fourth and last season of the Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL). The regular season began March 27, 2015, and end on June 20, 2015. Each team played an 11 or 12-game schedule. The top 4 teams in the league advanced to the playoffs that began on June 27, 2015. Pre-season The Erie Explosion joined the league, after playing two seasons in Continental Indoor Football League. The Explosion took the place of the Georgia Fire, who were created by the league to fill the void of the Albany Panthers, who folded in January 2014. The 2014 Nashville Venom season was the first season as a professional indoor football franchise and their first in the Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL). The Venom were of eight teams competing in the PIFL for the 2014 season. In November 2012, it was announced that the Venom would be the eighth and final team of the Professional Indoor Football League for the 2014 season. Unlike other teams in the American Conference of the new PIFL, the Venom were an entirely new team, not a continuation of a franchise in the former Southern Indoor Football. A few days after being introduced it was announced by Managing Partner Jeff Knight that Billy Back would be the first coach in Venom history. An athletic conference is a collection of sports teams, playing competitively against each other in a sports league. In many cases conferences are subdivided into smaller divisions, with the best teams competing at successively higher levels.
