Nanhua District
Nanhua District () is a rural district of about 8,209 residents in Tainan, Taiwan. It has two reservoirs, the larger one being the Nanhua Reservoir. It is the largest district in the city. History After the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China in 1945, Nanhua was organized as a rural township of Tainan County. On 25 December 2010, when Tainan County merged with Tainan City, Nanhua became a district of Tainan City. Nanhua Dam
Nanhua Dam (), originally named Houjie Dam (), is a dam across the Houku River, a tributary of the Zengwen River in southern Taiwan. Located at Nanhua District, Tainan, the dam was built to provide municipal water to Tainan and Kaohsiung City and is operated by the Taiwan Water Corporation. Construction work started in December 1988, and impoundment of the reservoir began in July 1993. A conduit to supply water from the reservoir to Kaohsiung was completed in October 1993 and the entire project was operational in March 1994. The curved earthfill dam is high and long, impounding a reservoir with a capacity of and an active or useful capacity of . The reservoir naturally receives water from a catchment of , which is not enough to fill it alone. Most of the water is actually diverted through a tunnel from the Qishan River to the east, adding to the drainage area. Nanhua University (NHU; ) is a university located in Dalin Township, Chiayi County, Taiwan. Founded in 1996 as the Nanhua College of Management, it was elevated to university status in 1999. Nan Hua High School (NHHS) () is a co-educational government secondary school in Clementi, Singapore, offering the four-year Express course leading to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Ordinary Level national examination. Founded in 1917, Nan Hua High School is the tenth Special Assistance Plan (SAP) school in Singapore, and is an autonomous school since 2001. Nanhua Temple
Nanhua Temple () is a Buddhist monastery of the Chan Buddhism, one of Five Great Schools of Buddhism where Huineng, the Sixth Patriarch of Chan Buddhism, once lived and taught. It is located in the town of Maba (), Qujiang District, southeast of central Shaoguan, Guangdong province. The location is in the northern part of the province, within a few kilometers from the Bei River. History The temple was founded during the time of the Northern and Southern Dynasties in 502 AD by an Indian monk named Zhiyao Sanzang () who originally named the site Baolin Temple (). It received its present name in 968 during the reign of the Song dynasty Emperor Taizong. Ancestor Hanshan Deqing taught there and reformed the monastery in the 16th century. The site was later renovated in 1934 under the leadership of Hsu Yun whose body is housed in the central forest sanctuary.
