Lek Nana ( th, เล็ก นานา; 1924–1 April 2010) was a Thai businessman and politician. He was one of the founders of Thailand's Democrat Party (Thailand), Democrat Party at the end of World War II. Khlong Toei (also Klong Toey, th, คลองเตย, ) is a district in central Bangkok, long known for its slum. It is bordered by the Chao Phraya River and contains major port facilities. It is also the site of a major market, the Khlong Toei Market. Soi Arab ( th, ซอยอาหรับ, , ), officially Soi Sukhumvit 3/1 and also called Arab Street, is an alleyway (soi) in Bangkok, located between Soi Sukhumvit 3 and Soi Sukhumvit 5. The area is named after the fact that the area is mostly occupied by Middle Eastern visitors and expatriates, with numerous Arab restaurants and shops. It is located not far from the Nana Plaza nightlife area and the Grace Hotel, which is popular among Arabs. Several restaurants in the area offer outdoors water pipe smoking, and shops offer expensive agarwood for sale. History In 1983, the oldest restaurant on the soi, the Shahrazad opened and would later become popular among Arabs. Its circulation is in the 500,000–900,000 range. Controversy ''Kom Chad Luek'' became the target of mass protests after it printed an article on 24 March 2006 that omitted part of a quote by anti-government protest leader Sondhi Limthongkul, with the misquote suggesting Sondhi wanted King Bhumibol Adulyadej to abdicate, which was viewed as an insult to the king, or lèse majesté, which is a crime in Thailand.
