NK Neretvanac Opuzen
NK Neretvanac Opuzen is a Croatian football team from Opuzen founded in 1932 currently playing in the Treća HNL. Neretvanac played four seasons in the Croatian second division in the 1990s. The club is named after the river which runs through Opuzen. History In 1976, Neretvanac hosted Hajduk Split in a friendly organised after Opuzen fans sent in over 50,000 coupons to match sponsor Slobodna Dalmacija. Hajduk won 6:0 in front of 6,000 spectators, which was noted to be twice the number the population of Opuzen at the time. Neretvanac played in the Croatian second division from independence to 1995, when they finished last and were relegated. NK Neretvanac most recently qualified for the 2016 Croatian Cup, losing to NK Istra 1961 in the first round. Opuzen
Opuzen ( it, Forte Opus) is a small town in Dubrovnik-Neretva County in Croatia. The town is located upstream from the mouth of the river Neretva, in southern Dalmatia. This settlement is known as a major center of tangerine production in Croatia. Opuzen got its name from its fortress, Fort Opus. The fortress was built by the Republic of Venice in 1684. Ruins of the fortress that remain are called Recycle and are part of the old town wall. The center of the old part of Opuzen is a classic Roman Forum. The Druga nogometna liga ( eng, Second football league), commonly Druga NL or 2. NL) is the third tier of the football league system. The league was established in 1991 following the dissolution of the Yugoslav League. It is operated by the Croatian Football Federation. It was previously known as the Third Football League, but was renamed with the other leagues for the start of the 2022–23 season. Hajduk Split
Hrvatski nogometni klub Hajduk Split, commonly referred to as Hajduk Split () or simply Hajduk, is a Croatian professional football club based in Split, that competes in the Croatian First League, the top tier in Croatian football. Since 1979, the club's home ground has been the 34,198-seater Stadion Poljud. The team's traditional home colours are white shirts with blue shorts and blue socks. The idea to form a football club was started by group of Split students who were studying in Prague. After observing a game between Slavia and Sparta Prague, the group gathered at the U Fleků tavern and talked of creating a football club at home. ''Slobodna Dalmacija'' () is a Croatian daily newspaper published in Split. The first issue of ''Slobodna Dalmacija'' was published on 17 June 1943 by Tito's Partisans in an abandoned stone barn on Mosor, a mountain near Split, while the city was occupied by the Italian army. The paper was later published in various locations until Split was liberated on 26 October 1944. From the following day onward, ''Slobodna Dalmacija'' has been published in Split. Nogometni klub Istra 1961 ( en, Istra 1961 Football Club), commonly referred to as NK Istra 1961, or simply Istra 1961 or Istra, is a Croatian professional football club from Pula, currently playing in the Croatian First League. It is a common opinion amongst many people that ''Istra 1961'' was founded in 1961 by merging two clubs from Pula, NK Uljanik and NK Pula, forming NK Istra. However, NK Istra is not the same club as NK Istra 1961. NK Istra 1961, then named NK Uljanik, was founded in 1964. NK Istra were competing in Prva HNL since the first season, but were relegated in the 1996–97 season to Druga HNL. The Hrvatska nogometna liga () ( en, Croatian football league), also known as HNL or for sponsorship reasons the SuperSport HNL, is the top Croatian professional football league competition, established in 1992. Previously, it was called Prva Hrvatska nogometna liga (First Croatian Football League), but a league structure reorganization from 2022–23 led to name changes for the three top league levels. Nogometni klub Neretva Metković ( en, Neretva Football Club), commonly referred to as NK Neretva or simply Neretva, is a Croatian professional Association football, football club based in the town of Metković, in the region of Dubrovnik-Neretva County. The club's first name was NK Narona. It was renamed to Neretva in 1994. Neretva reached the 1.HNL, Croatian first league in the 1994–95 season. Marko Grgić (born 30 June 1987) is a Croatian retired football forward. Marko was called up for the Croatian national under-21 team in 2008, but never got capped. Nikola Katić (; born 10 October 1996) is a Croatian professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for FC Zürich. Club career Early career Katić started his football career in 2001 at HNK Stolac in his native Stolac, before moving on to NK Neretvanac in Opuzen, Croatia.
