Rudolf Němec
Rudolf Němec (19 May 1936 Prague - 12 March 2015 Prague) was a Czech painter, printmaker, poet and sculptor. He was one of the leading representatives of the New Figuration in Czechoslovakia. Life Rudolf Němec spent his youth and the World War II, Second World War in Roztoky near Prague and in Skuteč. After the war, he completed one year at the Real Gymnasium in Prague and after the reorganisation of education he studied at the Higher School of Graphic Arts. After the division of the school, he completed his secondary studies at the Higher School of Housing Industry in the department of applied painting. In 1955 he was admitted to the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, Academy of Arts and Crafts in Prague to the studio of prof. Antonín Strnadel. He finished his studies in 1961 with a set of graphic works for the Museum in Roztoky. After completing the compulsory military service, he worked in a small studio on Komenský náměstí in Žižkov. Jan Němec
Jan Němec (12 July 1936 – 18 March 2016) was a Czech filmmaker whose most important work dates from the 1960s. Film historian Peter Hames has described him as the "enfant terrible of the Czech New Wave." Biography Němec's career as a filmmaker started in the late 1950s when he attended FAMU. At that time, Czechoslovakia was a communist state subservient to the USSR, and artistic and public expression was subject to censorship and government review. However, thanks largely to the failure of purely propagandist cinema in the early 1950s and the presence of important and powerful people such as Jan Procházka within the Czechoslovak film industry, the 1960s led to an internationally acknowledged creative surge in Czechoslovak film that became known as the Czech New Wave, in which Němec played a part. Božena Němcová
Božena Němcová () (4 February 1820 in Vienna – 21 January 1862 in Prague) was a Czech writer of the final phase of the ''Czech National Revival'' movement. Her image is featured on the 500 CZK denomination of the Česká koruna. Biography According to the dating up to now accepted by the majority of Czech authors, Božena Němcová was born in 1820 as ''Barbara Pankel'' (or ''Barbora Panklová'' according to the usual Czech name-giving for women) in Vienna as a daughter of Johann Pankel from Lower Austria and Teresie Novotná, a maid of Bohemian origin. In her childhood she lived near the small town of Ratibořice, where her grandmother Magdalena Novotná played an important part in her life. Jiří Němec (born 15 May 1966 in Pacov) is a Czech former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He played for Czechoslovakia and later the Czech Republic. He won a total of 84 international caps for the two teams, scoring one goal, and played at both Euro 96 and Euro 2000. At club level, he spent nine seasons with Schalke 04 in Germany, playing 256 Bundesliga games and scoring six goals. He was an integral part of their defence when they won the UEFA Cup in May 1997.
