Zdeněk Němec (3 February 1933 – 29 January 2014) was a Czech athlete. He competed in the men's discus throw at the 1960 Summer Olympics. Zábřeh
Zábřeh (; german: Hohenstadt) is a town in Šumperk District in the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 13,000 inhabitants. Administrative parts Villages of Dolní Bušínov, Hněvkov, Pivonín and Václavov are administrative parts of Zábřeh. Dolní Bušínov and Hněvkov form two exclaves of the municipal territory. Etymology The name ''Zábřeh'' is derived from ''za břehem'', meaning "behind the riverbank". It is a reference to the river which flows through the town. ''Hohenstadt'' is its former German name, meaning "high town". A name with the same meaning is used in Latin sources – ''Alta Civitas''. The men's discus throw throwing event at the 1960 Summer Olympics took place on September 6 & September 7. Thirty-five athletes from 22 nations competed. The maximum number of athletes per nation had been set at 3 since the 1930 Olympic Congress. The event was won by Al Oerter of the United States, the nation's third consecutive and 10th overall victory in the men's discus throw. It was Oerter's second gold medal in the event; he would go on to win four. Oerter was the sixth man to win two medals in the event, and the third to win two gold medals. The United States earned its second consecutive and third overall medal sweep in the event, as Rink Babka took silver and Dick Cochran bronze. The 1960 Summer Olympics ( it, Giochi Olimpici estivi del 1960), officially known as the Games of the XVII Olympiad ( it, Giochi della XVII Olimpiade) and commonly known as Rome 1960 ( it, Roma 1960), were an international multi-sport event held from 25 August to 11 September 1960 in Rome, Italy. Eva Horáková, née Němcová (born 3 December 1972), is a Czech basketball player. Life and career The youngest of three children of Jiřina Němcová and Zdeněk Němec, she began her basketball career at the age of 18. She played for the Czech Republic national team in 1992 Summer Olympics, which finished at sixth place. In 1997, she entered the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) and went on to spend five seasons playing for the now-defunct Cleveland Rockers. She was named a member of the All-WNBA first team and second team in 1997 and 1998 respectively. During the 2000 WNBA season, she set a league record by making 66 consecutive free throws. She was the ninth WNBA player to score 1,000 career points. In 2005, Němcová won a gold medal with the Czech national team at the Eurowomen tournament.
