Nyakayojo Secondary School
Nyakayojo is a mixed school in the city of Mbarara, Mbarara District. It is a public school, founded and owned by the Church of Uganda with support from the government of Uganda. Location The school is on Bwenkoma hill, in Nyakayojo Division near Ruti, Mbarara Trading Centre, south-west of the central business district, approximately off Mbarara Kabale road. History With the government policy to increase secondary schools during the second reign of president Apollo Milton Obote, in 1984, Nyakayojo church under the Church of Uganda, decided to establish a secondary school. The plans were led by Canon Yafesi Bikaaku. They established an ordinary senior school. The school remained small with very few members until the coming of Late Kakuru Ephraim (Cadre) as he was popularly known to students, in 1989 he added many strategies, recruited more teachers and constructed more class rooms and students dormitories. Ruti is a neighborhood within Mbarara City Location The settlement is approximately on off Kabale road southwest of Mbarara Central Business District. Education In Uganda
The system of education in Uganda has a structure of 7 years of primary education, 6 years of secondary education (divided into 4 years of lower secondary and 2 years of upper secondary school), and 3 to 5 years of post-secondary education. Education in Uganda is administered in English. All through out the levels in the education structure, modules are taught and assessed in English. The government of Uganda recognizes education as a basic human right and continues to strive to provide free primary education to all children in the country. However, issues with funding, teacher training, rural populations, and inadequate facilities continue to hinder the progress of educational development in Uganda. Ivan Koreta
Ivan Koreta (born 15 October 1955) is a Ugandan military officer, diplomat and legislator. He is a General in the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) and a representative for the armed forces in the Parliament of Uganda; where he serves as a member of the ''Public Accounts Committee'' and the ''Committee on Presidential Affairs''. Koreta has been a member of the armed forces since 1981 and most recently served as the deputy chief of defence forces, the second-highest position in the UPDF, from 2005 to 2013. He also served from 2006 up until 2009 as the chairman of the General Court Martial, the second-highest military court in Uganda. Uganda National Teachers Union
Uganda National Teachers Union (abbreviation: UNATU) is a Ugandan Teachers' Union. Background Originally active as the Uganda Teachers Association (UTA), the Teachers' Association renamed itself the Uganda National Teachers' Union in March 2003 and thereby complied with the Trade Union Act of 1971. In 2006, these laws were updated with the Labor Unions Act. UNATU has been recognized as a charitable organization since 2006. Apollo Milton Obote
Apollo Milton Obote (28 December 1925 – 10 October 2005) was a Ugandan political leader who led Uganda to independence from British colonial rule in 1962. Following the nation's independence, he served as prime minister of Uganda from 1962 to 1966 and the second president of Uganda from 1966 to 1971, then again from 1980 to 1985. He founded the Uganda People's Congress (UPC) in 1960, which played a key role in securing Uganda's independence from the United Kingdom in 1962. He then became the country's prime minister in a coalition with the Kabaka Yekka movement/party, whose leader King Mutesa II was named president. Nyakayojo Division is one of the six administrative divisions that make up Mbarara Municipality. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996.
