Nurlan () is a Turkic masculine given name that is mostly common in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The name is essentially a combination of the Arabic word Noor (also spelled as "Nur") meaning ''light'', ''ray'' or ''shine'' and the Turkic word "Lan/Ulan" which means ''lion'' in most Turkic languages. Nurlan Zairollauly Nigmatulin (, born 31 August 1962) is a Kazakh politician who served as the Chair of the Mazhilis from 22 June 2016 to 1 February 2022 and from 20 January 2012 to 3 April 2014. Prior to that, he headed the Presidential Administration of Kazakhstan, and was the first deputy chairman of Nur Otan from 2009 to 2012, and äkim of Karaganda Region from 2006 to 2009. Early life and career Nurlan Nigmatulin was born to a Kazakh Muslim family in Karaganda as the son of Zairullah (Zaırollah) Nigmatulin and Zainab (Zeynep) Kariyeva. Nurlan Utebovich Balgimbayev ( kz, Нұрлан Өтепұлы Балғымбаев, ''Nūrlan Ötepūly Balğymbaev''; 20 November 1947 – 14 October 2015) was a Kazakh politician who served as Prime Minister of Kazakhstan from 10 October 1997 to 1 October 1999. Nur Land (Polish: ziemia nurska), named after the town (now a village) of Nur, was an administrative unit (ziemia) of the Duchy of Mazovia, Kingdom of Poland and the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth. With its capital in Nur, it belonged to Masovian Voivodeship. In the Middle Ages, Nur was one of the most important towns of Mazovia, and the seat of a starosta. Nurlan Altynbekovich Koizhaiganov ( kz, Нұрлан Алтынбекұлы Қойжайғанов, ''Nūrlan Altynbekūly Qoijaiğanov''; born March 27, 1977, in Ayagoz) is a retired amateur Kazakh Greco-Roman wrestler, who competed in the men's lightweight category.
