Sigrid Nunez is an American writer, best known for her novels. Her seventh novel, '' The Friend'', won the 2018 National Book Award for Fiction. She is on the faculty of the MFA Creative Writing Program at Hunter College (CUNY). Alejandro Núñez Allauca (born April 18, 1943) is a Peruvian composer and accordionist who performed outside of his native country. Biography He was born in Moquegua, Peru on April 18, 1943, and first performed on the radio in Cerro de Pasco as a soloist on accordion at the age of nine. In 1955, he moved to Lima, where he studied music theory under the organist Manuel Cabrera Guerra. He studied cello in the National Conservatory of Music and at the Instituto Torcuato di Tella in Buenos Aires with Francisco Kröpfl, Gabriel Brncic and Gerardo Gandini. Carlos Núñez Muñoz (born 1971) is a Spanish musician and multi-instrumentalist who plays the gaita, the traditional Galician bagpipe, Galician flute, ocarina, Irish flute, whistle and low whistle. Life and career Nuñez was born in 1971 in Vigo, Galicia. He began playing the bagpipes when he was eight years old. In his early teens, he was invited to play with the Festival Orchestra of the Festival Interceltique de Lorient in Brittany. Vasco Núñez de Balboa (; c. 1475around January 12–21, 1519) was a Spanish explorer, governor, and conquistador. He is best known for having crossed the Isthmus of Panama to the Pacific Ocean in 1513, becoming the first European to lead an expedition to have seen or reached the Pacific from the New World. He traveled to the New World in 1500 and, after some exploration, settled on the island of Hispaniola. Jose Nuñez is an American electronic and house music producer. He is best known for his works with producers Erick Morillo and Harry Choo Choo Romero on the Subliminal record label. Biography In 1998, he appeared in the US ''Billboard'' Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart twice, first hitting #1 with "In My Life." It peaked at #56 in the UK Singles Chart in September that year. The follow-up "Hold On" peaked at #9 US Dance later that year, and at #44 in the UK chart. Don Aaron Nunez Cardozo, GMH (1762–1834) was a Jewish English businessman, who established in Gibraltar and was consul for Tunis and Algiers in Gibraltar around 1805. Career Cardozo promoted the interests of the British Government and as delegate of General Henry Edward Fox, the Governor of Gibraltar, concluded a treaty on 5 November 1805, with Sidi Mahomet, Bey of Oran, for provisioning the garrison of Gibraltar and the British squadron in the Mediterranean. He proceeded to Oran on board the frigate ''Termagant'', which was placed at his disposal by Lord Nelson. Cardozo was successful in saving the lives of three Royal Navy sailors who were imprisoned at Oran and under the death sentence.
