Nuihau Laurey
Nuihau Laurey (born 29 December 1964) is a French Polynesian politician and former Cabinet Minister. He was vice-president of French Polynesia from 2014-2017 and one of the two senators for French Polynesia from 2015 to 2020. He was acting president of French Polynesia in 2014 between Gaston Flosse and Édouard Fritch's presidencies. Early life Laurey worked for the government-owned Socredo bank before working as a consultant. In 2009, he published ''Énergies renouvelables plaidoyer pour une véritable politique de l'énergie en Polynésie française'' (Renewable energy: Advocacy for a real energy policy in French Polynesia), published by Au Vent des Îles. In 2010, he was technical advisor to Teva Rohfritsch, then Minister of Energy, before returning to work again as a conultant. Senate (France)
The Senate (french: Sénat, ) is the upper house of the French Parliament, with the lower house being the National Assembly, the two houses constituting the legislature of France. The French Senate is made up of 348 senators (''sénateurs'' and ''sénatrices'') elected by part of the country's local councillors (in indirect elections), as well as by representatives of French citizens living abroad. Senators have six-year terms, with half of the seats up for election every three years. 2013 French Polynesian Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in French Polynesia on 21 April and 5 May 2013. The result was a victory for the Tahoera'a Huiraatira party, which won 38 of the 57 seats in the Assembly. Electoral system The election was held using a two round system. In the first round, parties were required to cross a threshold of 12.5% in order to participate in the second round, although parties receiving between 5% and 12.5% were allowed to form an alliance for the second round with a party that did qualify. Elections to the Assembly of French Polynesia are scheduled to be held in 2023 in order to elect 57 representatives to the Assembly of French Polynesia. The last election was in 2018. Félix Tokoragi
Félix Tokoragi is a French Polynesian politician and Member of the Assembly of French Polynesia. He has served as Mayor of Makemo since 2014. He was elected to the Mekemo town council in 2014 and subsequently elected mayor. In December 2017 Tokoragi handcuffed a man who had attacked him to an entrance post outside the town hall while waiting for police. In November 2021 he was fined XPF 100,000 for violence by a person holding public authority for the offence. He was re-elected as Mayor in May 2020. Nicole Sanquer (born 16 June 1972) is a French Polynesian politician, and former Cabinet Minister. She was a member of the French National Assembly from 2017 to 2022. Elected as a member of Tapura Huiraatira, she sits in the UDI and Independents group in the French Parliament. In 2020 she formed the A here ia Porinetia party. Early life Sanquer is the daughter of former French Polynesian education minister Nicolas Sanquer. She was educated at the University of French Polynesia, the Paul Bocuse institute of culinary arts in Écully, and ESSEC Business School, graduating with a masters degree in international hotel management in collaboration with Cornell University in 1997. After teaching at the hotel school in Tahiti, she worked as a civil servant in the protocol department of the president of French Polynesia, before serving as the head of the tourism department.
