Nugget Falls (Oregon)
Dillon Falls (also known as Nugget Falls, Hatrue Falls or Tolo Falls) are a series of rapids along the Rogue River (Oregon), Rogue River in the U.S. state of Oregon just north of the town of Gold Hill, Oregon, Gold Hill in the east stretch of the Rogue River–Siskiyou National Forest. Grants Pass, Oregon
Grants Pass is the county seat of Josephine County, Oregon, United States. The city is located on Interstate 5, northwest of Medford, along the Rogue River. The population was 39,189 at the 2020 census. History Early Hudson's Bay Company hunters and trappers, following the Siskiyou Trail, passed through the site beginning in the 1820s. In the late 1840s, settlers (mostly American) following the Applegate Trail began traveling through the area on their way to the Willamette Valley. The city states that the name was selected to honor General Ulysses S. Grant's success at Vicksburg. The Grants Pass post office was established on March 22, 1865. History The settlement was known as "Woodville" for many years, but was changed to "Rogue River" about 1912. Rapids are sections of a river where the river bed has a relatively steep gradient, causing an increase in water velocity and turbulence. Rapids are hydrological features between a ''run'' (a smoothly flowing part of a stream) and a ''cascade''. Rapids are characterized by the river becoming shallower with some rocks exposed above the flow surface. As flowing water splashes over and around the rocks, air bubbles become mixed in with it and portions of the surface acquire a white color, forming what is called "whitewater". The Rogue River ( tol, yan-shuu-chit’ taa-ghii~-li~’, tkm, tak-elam) in southwestern Oregon in the United States flows about in a generally westward direction from the Cascade Range to the Pacific Ocean. Known for its salmon runs, whitewater rafting, and rugged scenery, it was one of the original eight rivers named in the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act of 1968. Gold Hill is a city in Jackson County, Oregon, in the United States. As of the 2010 census the population was 1,335. It is along a bend of the Rogue River. Interstate 5 (I-5) in the U.S. state of Oregon is a major Interstate Highway that traverses the state from north to south. It travels to the west of the Cascade Mountains, connecting Portland to Salem, Eugene, Medford, and other major cities in the Willamette Valley and across the northern Siskiyou Mountains.
