Our Lady Of The Assumption
The Assumption of Mary is one of the four Marian dogmas of the Catholic Church. Pope Pius XII defined it in 1950 in his apostolic constitution ''Munificentissimus Deus'' as follows: We proclaim and define it to be a dogma revealed by God that the immaculate Mother of God, Mary ever virgin, when the course of her earthly life was finished, was taken up body and soul into the glory of heaven. The declaration was built upon the 1854 dogma of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, which declared that Mary was conceived free from original sin, and both have their foundation in the concept of Mary as the Mother of God. It leaves open the question of whether Mary died or whether she was raised to eternal life without bodily death. The equivalent belief (but not held as dogma) in the Eastern Orthodox Church is the Dormition of the Mother of God or the "Falling Asleep of the Mother of God". The Our Lady of the Assumption Co-Cathedral ( es, Concatedral de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción) also called Baracoa Cathedral is a religious building affiliated with the Catholic Church which is located in the town of Baracoa on the island and Caribbean nation of Cuba. The present church has its origins in the church built in 1807 during the Spanish colonization of Cuba, was partially damaged in 1833 and was renovated almost entirely in 1886. The portico was completed in 1905. By the early twenty-first century the church had deteriorated considerably but it was renovated and restored again in works that ended in 2012. The Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción ( Spanish: Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción) is a church and parish in Meco, Spain. The church was added to the '' Bien de Interés Cultural'' registry in 1982. History The church is thought to have existed before 1487, and part of the present church is known to have existed in 1568. Ambrosio de Morales recounts the arrival of the relics of Santos Justo y Pastor on their journey from Huesca to Alcalá de Henares. Some sources date the church's founding to 1548. The (Spanish for 'Collegiate Church of Saint Mary of the Assumption') is a Catholic church built in the sixteenth century in the town of Osuna, in Andalusia, Spain. It was founded by Juan Téllez-Girón, 4th Count of Ureña. It was declared '' Bien de Interés Cultural'' (Good of Cultural Interest) in 1931. The interior contains a nave and two aisles, five chapels, and a presbytery. The interior of the church is richly decorated in Renaissance style. It has a Baroque main altar, constructed in the eighteenth century, and the chapels on the sides are all very attractive. Mission Nuestra Señora de la Asunción de Zía was a Spanish Mission to the Zia Indians, established around 1610 by Franciscan missionaries accompanying Juan de Oñate. The church sustained severe damage in the Pueblo Revolt of 1680; after the reconquest of the territory by Diego de Vargas in 1692, the Franciscans returned and performed a mass baptism of the Zia. Reconstruction of the church began in 1706 under the supervision of Fray Juan Alvarez, and was completed in 1750 under Fray Manuel Bermejo. The church building underwent several further renovations, including stuccoing in 1972 and 1998. Its retablo is painted by the anonymous artist known as the "Laguna Santero". Nuestra Señora de la Asunción (also known as ''Catedral de la Campina'', Spanish for "Cathedral of the Countryside") is a Roman Catholic church in Bujalance, Andalusia, southern Spain.
