Mexicana Universal Chiapas is a pageant in Chiapas, Mexico, that selects that state's representative for the national Mexicana Universal pageant. In 2003, 2004 and 2005 a representative was not selected. The State Organization hasn't had a national winner in Nuestra Belleza México/Mexicana Universal. A beauty pageant is a competition that has traditionally focused on judging and ranking the physical attributes of the contestants. Pageants have now evolved to include inner beauty, with criteria covering judging of personality, intelligence, talent, character, and charitable involvement, through private interviews with judges and answers to public on-stage questions. The term beauty pageant refers originally to the Big Four international beauty pageants. Pageant titles are subdivided into Miss, Mrs. or Ms., and Teen – to clearly identify the difference between pageant divisions. Nuestra Belleza México 2016
Nuestra Belleza México 2016, the 22nd annual Nuestra Belleza México pageant held at Foro 2 of Televisa San Angel in Mexico City on January 31, 2016. Twenty-nine contestants from Mexico competed for the national title, which was won by Kristal Silva from Tamaulipas who also competed in Miss Universe 2016. Silva was crowned by the outgoing Nuestra Belleza México titleholder Wendolly Esparza. She is the third person from Tamaulipas to win the title. After three consecutive years, the final show of "Nuestra Belleza Mundo México" not was held. Rumors said that this was due to financing issues involving the renewal of the franchise. Other rumors also said that should it be renewed then the Mexican representative would be elected by the designation of a prior participant. Nuestra Belleza México 2009
The 16th annual Nuestra Belleza México pageant was held at the Centro de Convenciones Yucatán Siglo XXI of Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico on September 20, 2009. It was the second time there were back-to-back victories for a state in Nuestra Belleza México history: Ximena Navarrete from Jalisco was crowned by outgoing Nuestra Belleza México titleholder Karla Carrillo also from Jalisco. She was the third Jalisciense to win this title. Thirty-four contestants of the Mexican Republic competed for the national title. Nuestra Belleza México 2010
The 17th annual Nuestra Belleza México pageant, was held at the Auditorio Parque Las Maravillas in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico on September 25, 2010. The State of Jalisco, won for the third consecutive year with Karin Ontiveros, who later competed in Miss Universe 2011 in Brazil. Ontiveros was crowned by outgoing Nuestra Belleza México titleholder and Miss Universe 2010 Ximena Navarrete. She was the fourth Jalisciense to win this Title. The 18th annual Nuestra Belleza México pageant, was held at the Centro Internacional de Convenciones of Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico on August 20, 2011. Palenque, Chiapas
Palenque is a city and municipality located in the north of the state of Chiapas, Mexico. The city was named almost 200 years before the nearby Mayan ruins were discovered in the 18th century. The area has a significant indigenous population, mostly of the Ch'ol people, a Mayan descendant.
