Nshan Munchyan
Nshan Munchyan ( hy, Նշան Մունչյան, born June 24, 1963 in Yerevan, Armenian SSR) is a retired Armenian boxer. He is a former World, European, four-time Soviet and multi-time Armenian Champion. Biography Nshan started boxing in Armenia in 1976. He began boxing under the Soviet Union. Munchyan won a gold medal at the 1987 European Amateur Boxing Championships. After the Union's fall in 1991, Munchyan began representing his native Armenia. He won a gold medal at the 1993 World Amateur Boxing Championships and a gold medal at the 1994 World Cup. He is the first boxer from the independent Armenia to win a medal in either competition. Munchyan competed at the 1996 Summer Olympics where, after receiving a first round bye, he lost to Daniel Petrov, whom he previously defeated at the 1993 World Championships finals. Rogelio Marcelo García (born June 11, 1965 in Guantánamo) is a retired boxer from Cuba, who competed in the light flyweight (– 48 kg) division during the early 1990s. Marcelo lost in 1989 and 1991 at the world championships finals to American winner Eric Griffin but represented his native country at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain, where he won the gold medal (Griffin lost to Rafael Lozano 5-6 ). Light flyweight, also known as junior flyweight or super strawweight, is a weight class in boxing. Professional boxing The weight limit at light flyweight in professional boxing is 108 pounds (49 kilograms). When New York legalized boxing in 1920, the law stipulated a "junior flyweight" class, with a weight limit of 99 pounds. When the National Boxing Association was formed in 1921, it also recognized this weight class. However, on January 19, 1922, the NBA decided to withdraw recognition of the junior flyweight division. On December 31, 1929, the New York State Athletic Commission also abolished the junior flyweight class. No champion had been crowned in this division prior to its abolition. Jan Quast (born 9 January 1970 in Rostock) is a German former boxer who competed in the light flyweight (– 48 kg) division during the late 1980s, early 1990s.
