November–December 2009 Moldovan Presidential Election
An indirect presidential election was held in Moldova on 10 November 2009 and 7 December 2009, following the July 2009 Moldovan parliamentary election, parliamentary election held in July 2009. Pre-election developments A Moldovan presidential election, May–June 2009, first attempt had failed in May–June 2009 after the April 2009 Moldovan parliamentary election, parliamentary election in April 2009, forcing a snap election and a second presidential election afterwards. Should this election fail again, the constitution forbids a second early election in the same year, which would mean that snap elections would be held in early 2010. Vladimir Filat (born 6 May 1969), commonly referred to as Vlad Filat (), is a Moldovan businessman and politician, founder of Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova. He was the Prime Minister of Moldova from 25 September 2009 to 25 April 2013. He also was appointed as the Presidents of Moldova, Interim President of Moldova for a brief period of time in 2010. Marian Lupu
Marian Lupu (; born 20 June 1966) is a Moldovan politician who was the President of the Parliament of Moldova between 2010 and 2013. From this position he served as Acting President of the Republic from 2010 until 2012. Personal life Marian Lupu was born on 20 June 1966 in Bălţi. When Marian was six, the family moved to Chişinău. His father, Ilie Lupu (b. 1938), was a mathematics professor at the Moldova State University. His mother taught French language at the Nicolae Testemiţanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
