The City of West Torrens is a local government area in the western suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia. Since the 1970s the area was mainly home to many open spaces and parks, however after the mid-1990s (1993-1995) the LGA became more residential. History It was established on 7 July 1853 as the District Council of West Torrens, which was one of the first local governments to be formed in South Australia following the passage of the ''District Councils Act 1852''. Morphett is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. The electorate is located approximately slightly south of west of the Adelaide city centre, bounded by the Holdfast Bay coastline to the west and Marion Road to the east. It is approximately in area, and includes the suburbs of Camden Park, Glenelg, Glenelg East, Glenelg North, Glenelg South, Glengowrie, Morphettville, Novar Gardens, and Park Holme, as well as a portion of Somerton Park. Adelaide Airport is a suburb in the City of West Torrens west of the Adelaide City Centre. The suburb was proclaimed in 1991. Almost the entire area of the suburb is taken up by the Adelaide Airport and associated businesses. There is also Harbour Town shopping centre on the western side of the suburb. The suburb is bounded by Tapleys Hill Road on the west and Sir Donald Bradman Drive and the Anna Meares Bike Path on the north. The eastern and southern boundaries match the airport boundaries. Ronald Craufurd Munro Ferguson, 1st Viscount Novar, (6 March 1860 – 30 March 1934) was a British politician who served as the sixth Governor-General of Australia, in office from 1914 to 1920. Munro Ferguson was born in Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland. He attended the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, and initially pursued a military career. Munro Ferguson was elected to the House of Commons in 1884, defeated a year later, and re-elected in 1886. A Liberal Imperialist, he was an ally of Lord Rosebery and served as a Junior Lord of the Treasury in his government.
