Notelaea Microcarpa
''Notelaea microcarpa'' is a bush or small crooked tree from the olive family, found in eastern Australia. Two varieties are recognised; var. ''microcarpa'', the velvet mock olive and var. ''velutina'' known as the gorge mock olive. The habitat is in the under-storey of eucalyptus woodland, north of the Hunter Region, north to Queensland. Often on rocky sites, associated with the White Box. The gorge mock olive is often found in the drier fire free gully rainforests, in the north of New South Wales. It may grow to ten metres tall, at an altitude of between 500 and 700 metres above sea level. Sites include Oxley Wild Rivers National Park and Chaelundi National Park. Robert Brown (botanist, Born 1773)
Robert Brown (21 December 1773 – 10 June 1858) was a Scottish botanist and paleobotanist who made important contributions to botany largely through his pioneering use of the microscope. His contributions include one of the earliest detailed descriptions of the cell nucleus and cytoplasmic streaming; the observation of Brownian motion; early work on plant pollination and fertilisation, including being the first to recognise the fundamental difference between gymnosperms and angiosperms; and some of the earliest studies in palynology. He also made numerous contributions to plant taxonomy, notably erecting a number of plant families that are still accepted today; and numerous Australian plant genera and species, the fruit of his exploration of that continent with Matthew Flinders. ''Prodromus Florae Novae Hollandiae et Insulae Van Diemen'' (Prodromus of the Flora of New Holland and Van Diemen's Land) is a flora of Australia written by botanist Robert Brown and published in 1810. Often referred to as ''Prodromus Flora Novae Hollandiae'', or by its standard botanical abbreviation ''Prodr. Fl. Nov. Holland.'', it was the first attempt at a survey of the Australian flora. It described over 2040 species, over half of which were published for the first time. Brown's ''Prodromus'' was originally published as Volume One, and following the ''Praemonenda'' (Preface), page numbering commences on page 145. Oxley Wild Rivers National Park
The Oxley Wild Rivers National Park is a protected national park that is located in the Northern Tablelands region of New South Wales, Australia in the Port Macquarie-Hastings City Council and Walcha Shire councils. The park is situated north of Sydney and is named in memory of the Australian explorer John Oxley, who passed through the area in 1818 and is one of the largest national parks in New South Wales.
